First let me say, I'm not one to start rumors from unnamed sources, most posters on this board know my reputation. I can't remember EVER starting a thread without a credible link, but want to pass some info on I heard from a close friend in Orange County, CA. today.

My friend, Mike, was listening to a radio show and he said there is very strong talk, frrom reporters and insiders about a Saints/Raider trade in Rd 1.
The Saints are strongly considering trading the #2 pick to Oakland for their #7 and multiple picks which include 2006 and 2007 draft choices. The Saints will probably wait till they are on the clock and then make the deal. It's believed the Saints can still get D'Brick at # 7 and the Raiders want Leinart.

I know some guy on JI (Bongo) has been suggesting a 3 way deal including the Jets......but I doubt that would ever happen.

If this trade goes down, my first 7 picks mock seems very realistic:

    1) Hou.....Bush
    2) Oak.....Leinart
    3) Tenn...Young
    4) NYJ..,..Mario
    5) GB......Hawk
    6) SF......Davis
    7) NO......D'Brick

Guys, don't bash me, I just reporting what my close friend, who I trust, in Cali told me this afternoon on the phone....we are both draftgeeks, although he's a huge Raider Fan.

Well, if the Jets take D'brick instead of MW, which I doubt......possible scenario:

    JMO:

    NYJ....D'Brick
    GB.....Mario
    SF.....Davis
Saints.Hawk........believe me, the Saints would love Hawk to fall to seven.

The trade is win/win for the Saints, they'd get Hawk or D Brick at 7. Those are the 2 guys they want anyway. It wouldn't make sense for New Orleans to take Hawk at 2 but 7 makes much more sense....

Believe me...that is not far from what may happen. I don't think we're set on Leinart or Brick but I believe we would love MW. The Raiders are really one of the only teams that will try to trade for NO's 2. If they do come draft day, then you're scenario will most likely happen.

I think there's a good chance of this happening, there are a lot of people, not just you, reporting a possible Saints-Raiders trade, which would then likely land us Mario. I'd be thrilled with Mario (see the sig).

I don't believe that it's a definite that the Titans would take Young if Leinart gets grabbed at #2. That would cause a lot irritation for the Saints, as one of the guys they're targetting would likely be gone at #7.

I did say a while ago though that I wouldn't be surprised if the Saints draft Leinart and then auction him off to the most favorable bidder, whether it be the Titans, Jets, Raiders, Lions or Cardinals.

I seriously doubt that would happen for 2 reasons:

    1) I think the Jets have Mario higher up on the board than D'Brick. It doesn't make any sense to take someone lower on your board than someone who you have ranked in the top 2 or 3.

    2) If the Jets passed up Mario for D'Brick, all hell would break not only in Radio City Music Hall, but around the entire city as well.

Whats all this about the Saints being pissed if they don't get Hawk, Brick or Mario at 7? The whole idea of a trade down, if they get fair value, is that they're taking a risk that they might not get the guy they want. Getting one of those guys at 7 would be great value ot go along with the extra picks.

Hope it happens cause I'm on the Mario bandwagon.
