Hard to believe, but after 53 years of imprisonment, she's out. She has lived a life of contrition and has never fully blamed Manson after she was deprogrammed, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. She doesn't blame Manson anymore at all. So, no excuses rather explanations. In all of the interviews I've seen, although she explains the confluence of events in her life at the time and Manson's influence, she takes full responsibility for her actions and involvement. Most legal opinions I've read said the system did what it was supposed to do: she's rehabilitated and will never re-offend. No-one could come up with a solid argument in favor of why she should die behind bars. Patricia Krenwinkel is a massive POS who just doesn't get it nor will she ever. She's DEFINITELY dying in prison. As an aside, I never understood how Squeaky Fromme was released after her foiled attempt on President Gerald Ford's life. Doesn't trying to assassinate a sitting U.S. President get you life in the clink? Shows what I know. Anyway, I'm surprised no-one has posted about this and I'm curious to know what others think of Van Houten's release. https://www.seattletimes.com/nation...-never-be-freed-how-leslie-van-houten-did-it/
I watched a thing on TV where a young mom suffocated her little girl to death because she was acting up late at night. The young mom served only 12 years. I dont understand how murderers of young babies get short sentences but if you take an adult's life its just assumed you will serve life in prison anyway, I dont like that shes out. Shouldnt get credit for "good behavior" in prison, that's the bare minimum...
She was only convicted of murdering the LaBiancas. She was not connected to the Tate murder. She was originally sentenced to death which unfortunately was invalidated by California's Supreme Court. She should have been gassed. What a waste of taxpayer dollars.
I mean after being denied parole a bunch of times, at some point you understand to play the game. If part of getting released from prison is saying you don't blame Manson at all, that's a pretty easy adjustment. That being said, she probably was brainwashed at some level, but she still did a terrible thing and probably should not be released regardless of repent.
