I really like what I hear about this kid. But the thing is, he is too small to play DE in the NFL. So if the rumors about us going to a 3-4 are true, I think that Lawson would fit perfect at OLB as a speed rusher. He ran a 4.43 at the combine and is an incredible athlete. Maybe if we wind up with Denver's 29th overall he might be availiable. What do you guys think?
Agreed, he'd be a really good guy to replace Abe in the 3-4, I'm hoping he's there at our 2nd round pick.
He is one of the nastiest pass rushers I've ever seen. I hope we draft him. He is just over-shadowed by Mario Williams...who is deserves all the credit that he gets.
I would like him as an OLB but I do think we have bigger concerns that we need to address at the moment on offensive, particularly the line
I totally understand this sentiment. However I don't think you can just ignore the defense, especially when it appears that 2 of the 3 best players from that unit last year will not be back in 2006. Also if by trading Abraham and trading down from pick #4, the Jets will likely be in a position of having 4 picks within the top 40 of the draft.
at 29#(assuming the Abraham deal goes down) do you go OLB like a Manny Lawson or a Bobby Carpenter. Or do you go O line like a Nick Mangold or a Max Jean Gilles or a Wr chad Jackson possibly.
I personally think he's a solid pick at 29 and would be a steal if we got him with our second round pick.
Doubt he falls out of the 12-16 range after the performance he put up at the combine. Browns are going to be very, very interested, as should teams like Miami if he falls a little.
