Didn't see a thread on this . Surprising. Apparently he tweeted this same thing two days in a row. This guy is such a troll. And he still hasn't given his reasons.
My son tweeted at him yesterday, after he tweeted Ryan Quigley named AFC Special teams player of the week, my son wrote have you seen this guy punt?
Wilkerson is essentially the same player as Dareus from a statistical standpoint. I agree that I wouldn't want to pay Wilk that kind of money especially with Richardson and Williams in the fold. But if not Wilk who do they spend it on? It's rare to see guys as good and as young as Wilkerson reach free agency.
Mehta's a dope. Mo's impact on the defense has been huge this year. Very few, if any, players are really worth the money that the market demands they get. That's such a subjective, dumb statement that can be made about many star players. Mo is having a Pro Bowl year and is a very valuable piece to this team. Jets need to find a way to keep him.
This is a punt to Manish Ignoramus As for Mo, I've no idea what Mac's thinking or where this is heading.
Mo is the only lock out of those 3. Sheldon is/will be better...if he stays out of trouble. Leonard might be another Mo but when you already have Mo why gamble?
Because this team needs a legit pass rusher. Why spend money on a position we are deep at when we have other problems?
So you don't want to spend money on any of those 3 period? Also, we might have our edge rusher in Mauldin. He might not become Derrick Thomas and get 25 sacks per year but he can potentially be a legit 10-15 sacks per year guy, that's more than enough. Those guys won't cost you 100 mil. for 7 years either.
Agreed, we'll re-sign 1-2 of those 3 anyway, so why let the one guy that is a lock, the safe bet walk? No clue how much money he's looking for but unless he's asking for Suh type money we have to lock him up. And then see if Sheldon can keep his nose clean the next 2-3 years and see how Leonard progresses. Then make a decision between the two. But if you let Mo walk now, then you're hoping for Leonard to become Mo, then you're gambling on Sheldon to keep his nose clean. You don't know yet, you'll know in 2-3 years. So that's a big gamble with those 2. I rather lock up Mo now and then see how the other 2 do over the next 2-3 years and then lock up the next guy and let the other guy walk, whether it's Sheldon (getting in trouble again) or Leonard (not becoming an All Pro caliber player).
There are two possibilities for Mo - either you're going to be able to reach an agreement with him for a long-term contract or you're not. If you're not then the Jets will franchise Mo (probably on a non-exclusive basis). The amount to franchise him will be approximately $14 or $15 million and will entirely count against the salary cap for 2016, which will be a big problem for the jets. I think the jets will either hope another team tries to sign him and gives up 2 first round picks or they'll trade him. I don't think they'll be able to have him count for $14 or $15 million under the 2016 salary cap. If they cut Cromartie and Couples that will give them the approximately $16 million, but they have a bunch of other people they need to resign too - Ivory, Fitz, DD, etc. They can try to significantly reduce D'Brick's salary or cut him, but then they don't have a left tackle.
2 yrs from know our D-line will be Leonard, Snacks, and Coples. Mo will be traded for a 2nd round pic. Sheldon will be in re-hab.
If Mo is looking for a huge deal then the charge against the cap to franchise him next year is no big deal because the huge deal would average that over the course of the contract. Look at Suh's deal: next year he counts $28M on the cap and he's at $22M and $24M in two other years on the deal. Franchising Mo is probably the way to go at this point. The Jets figure out how to squeeze him in next year and then unfortunately lose him moving forward. The alternative is essentially going to be to pay him the equivalent of the franchise tender in each year of the deal moving forward with a little wiggle room but huge numbers in most year.
