Check out Yahoo and what they had to say about Eric thought it was funny just shows that the guy really learned from the best, hes not saying a word. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_y...YcB?slug=cr-combine022806&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
Interesting read, 4eva. Thanks for posting it. I like what I read about Cutler. As far as Mangini's non-information, it doesn't really bother me if he doesn't give up stuff. The author cites fan interest as a reason why he should spill his guts and that's a weak argument, IMO. He uses that because he's a pissed-off journalist who was unable to pry much out of Mangini. TS, in my opinion. We're rebuilding a team and if we need to do it discreetly, I have no problem with that. Let's hear it for our new HC!
If there is anything I love about this new regime is exactly that... the silence. There is no need to divulge any information to the media. Afterall, they take that information and skew it and distort it until they come up with something controversial. It's definitely a great change of pace after having the preacher man every day on that podium spilling the beans on every decision the Jets were making..
Wow, a Jets coach finally doesn't tell the media exactly what are the teams plans and he gets ripped. Good for Mangini. I'd keep my mouth shut as well.
No problem yea the other stuff was a good read 2 but when I read that n it was the last thing on the page I said I gotta post this lol. They say Jay is lookin real well n I like wut I read about Vernon, but I knw TE wont be picked in the first or second round even thou I think we do need one badly. Jolley is not gonna cut it n isnt Baker a FA.
It takes a smart man to realize the press can't be trusted. I'm not saying don't use the press ever. I'm saying, use it and give up information only when it suits you to do so and it's to your advantage. Why shoot your mouth off like Herm used to do? For what reason, so they have fodder to manipulate, distort, cause hard feelings among teamates or staff? If it were up to me, I'd even take it a step further. I'd kick it up a notch. I'd use the press to bait and switch other teams or to enhance draft position. I'd use the bastards and play them like a fiddle: "Uh... yeah... we're really not interested in so-and-so. In fact, we're thinking about trading down to get away from that pick." Screw 'em.
I agree. That's what these sites are for. Speculation. All I want to hear from our coach right now is about done deals. I don't miss those Herm rants. You finally got to see your team saying something on ESPN and it turns out to be Herm telling fairy tails. Just a feeling but I like what we're doing so far.
I also don't have a problem sequestering the rest of the coaching staff and even the players (unless special permission is granted). Mangini is perfectly capable of being the sole spokesperson for what's going on with the team. There's no need for every lesser coach to muddy the waters and possibly even jeopardize game plans by issuing his own personal statements to the press. Besides, it's a waste of their time, not to mention a distraction. If a reporter approaches Mike Westhoff, for example, the easiest excuse he has not to engage the reporter is to simply tell him it's against team policy for him to speak to the press. Case closed. The press are a bunch of snakes anyway.
That's classic! I like it. Go from Mr. Mouth to Mr. Silent. I love it. NY media is going to hate it which just makes me love it even more!
hahah the NY media will be crying all year with Mangini keeping his mouth shut...then when they finally realize he keeps his work secretive for a reason....they will CRY some more....damn the new york media...although i have to give him props for screwing with their jobs...now they have nothing to report on
To be honest, I'm fine with the fact that he doesn't talk to the media. I remember Herm sticking his foot in his mouth before the Oakland thrashing in 2003.
This is one of the many reasons why i like mangini. He also was interviewed on NFL network, by rich eisen and answered the questions intelligently and gave enough feedback but at the same time didnt give off any info.
