Jets coach Eric Mangini said he was willing to continue his running back-by-committee approach. "It will be package-based again," Mangini said. "There's certain things that Leon does really well and certain things that Kevan does really well..." Hmmm...what is it exactly, that Barlow does REALLY WELL?
I don't disagree with this RBBC philosophy, but I do think Leon has earned himself more touches than Kevan at this point.....
He lulls the defense into a sense of complacency. "Man, this tackling is easy!" they all say. Which makes it harder to tackle someone who is actually hard to get down, i.e.: Leon.
I don't. Washington has played pretty well, but I think that's a product of him being put out there the RIGHT times. He gained 100 against JAX in a nothing game, so let's not get too hyped. Barlow is a good back. He does need to start playing better, but I thought he did that against Miami. I also think he's a much better blocker, which works well when we go 3 WRs or 4WRs.
barlow has not been bad, leon has put up better #s but barlow softens up the D as they get used to htiting a slower, bigger target then they see leon and it's a big adjustment. The Ol is starting to open up some holes so we'll continue to see better production out of this tandem.
Don't agree, wasn't even talking about the Jax game. I watched them both closely at the Miami game and thought he made better decisions and ran harder than Barlow. Not really dissing Barlow though because I think they are both mediocre at this point, and actually complement each other well. Just think Washington has more upside at this point and deserves more of a chance. Good point on blocking, it was Washingtons weak point in the preseason, but IMO he has since been doing a pretty good job in that regards, and I don't see it as a real strong point for Barlow either. Sure miss Cmart in that area....
I think they are both fine and that the RBBC is the perfect thing to do. More teams in the NFL are using RBBC now, so we might as well try it out too
