From rotoworld: It would be impossible for me to respect a coach less than I respect Mangini. Maybe it's because of his non-football background, but he has zero respect or empathy for his players as professional athletes, and is completely unable to work in situations that don't fit his strengths exactly (other examples: wasting Vilma's career and a couple seasons trying to turn what was already a good 4-3 defense into a 3-4; not being able to deal with accomplished, respected veterans such as Pete Kendall, a decision which not only destroyed the O-Line for an entire season but caused injuries to the guys he' was supposedly responsible for; his pissing war with Shaun Rogers immediately after taking the Cleveland job.) And Josh McDaniels appears to have the same flaws. Eventually everyone's going to realize that Belicheck was the genius, and everyone else, be it Crennell, Weis, Mangini, McDaniels, et al, were just functionaries.
So, then, is Bill a better coach than Holmgren? I guess in terms of winning for the team he coaches, you'd have to say yes. But look at all the great coaches that Homgren "brought up". Now, you could argue that Holmgren jsut made better HR decisions (or maybe not because Belichick's guys may have been exactly what he wanted), or maybe by chance the people he had were jsut better individual coaches. I personally think Mangini needs to be the DC of his team even when he is HC.
I did hear about a sleepover at the Palmer house, but Carson's mom may have made him invite the whole team so as not to hurt any feelings. Until we see matching, handwoven bracelets, we may never know.
Wow, Peter King - lifelong Pats fan, Kraft propagandist, and Belly Sodomite - reports something negative about Mangini? That's a surprise....
Speaking of the Browns (I didn't want to make a thread about it in the Jets forum and nobody bothers reading the NFL forum) I found this thread about Brett Ratliff on the Browns forum quite amusing. http://thebrownsboard.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5861
I hated the hire the day it was made – but now that he’s wrecking someone else’s team I really don’t care.
The finish was a joke, and he still has things to learn, but he's young. He had to go the way that season ended.
