Looks like Mangini won via the Herm strategy yesterday - play to not lose the game. Luckily for us, JP Losman is a QB that knows how to lose games.

I'm a darksider. Nothing wrong with that. We try to protect ourselves from our high hopes and expectations. Probably similar to a girl who's reticcent to fall in love after getting their heart broken, we're just defending ourselves from this team and what the football gods do to us. It made the Ellis return that much sweeter though - becasue us darksiders want the Jet SB so bad, that we're just that much more defensive about those hopes.

Couple notes - we played to not lose the game. After the first 2 drives, our offense was unimaginitive, uninspiring, and had no flow - as Herm would say, "somebody made a play." Thank goodness for Leon. Most exciting, big-play guy we've had since John Abraham (j/k - Leon, unlike John "Tin Man" Abraham has a heart.

Congrats to our pass defense - we were covering the crossing patterns. Too bad we forgot to play the run. Before that Ellis play, this defense looked like a Miata trying to stop a Mack Truck.

This is a team that currently is less inspired on defense than a Turtle, has less continuity on offense than a hiccuping rhhinocerous, and has a coach that chews bubble gum and seemingly lives in a bubble on the sidelines.

The next 2 games are completely winnable. Seattle's pass offense is nothing special and we should beat them. Leaving Miami, an extremely well coach team, with a QB who must be DREAMING about coming in and beating Favre in the Meadowlands. I was and am for the Favre move, but I also admire Chad's toughness and winning tendencies, in spite of his noodleness. SOJ coupled with Favre's tendency to throw the pick at the worst possible time is my recurring nightmare heading towards that Miami game - if that were to happen, it would (1) be devestating, (2) would provide a tiny smile in honor of the best character player we've ever had the opportunity to root for.

At the end of this rant my only conclusion is to not think about this team until Sunday anymore - it's just not worth the time.

    Have a good week.

What I was most bothered by was Mangini's comments after the game. To paraphrase, he said something like "It doesn't matter how you get there, as long as you win." Putting that in the players heads is unacceptable. The result yesterday was basically like a coin toss. It could have gone either way. You want to play cleaner football so you have a more definitive victory. A really good coach would tell his players that it was good they got the win, but they played awful and most likely won't win to many games playing like that.

I was going to start a thread, but I'll just dogpile in the already existing threads- MANGINI MUST GO.

It's strange, I'm a die-hard Jets fan, so anytime we win, no matter what, I feel great. But at the same time, if we make the play-offs, we have one more year of Manstupid, and that thought honestly makes me sick to my stomach.
