This excerpt from SI.com's Don Banks: "D'Brickashaw Ferguson has the correct mentality to be a prototypical left offensive tackle in the NFL. Ferguson is considered a top five pick, and I do believe I'd want him guarding my backside. Or blind side, for that matter. Asked to describe what he's like on the field, the 6-foot-6, 312-pound Virginia standout said, "I'm a beast. I see myself as a bodyguard. I'm personally responsible for the health and welfare of my quarterback, and I'll do anything in my means to protect him.''" Here's the thing....if he's a Top 5 pick....I'm positive he's talking about the Jets....who else in the Top 5 would take him?
I would take D'BRick cause we a a awsome LT and he would get the job done and in the 2nd round we could take croyle if we didnt get ramsey or if we release kendall we could get a LG in the 2nd round or we could put Goodwin in at Lg he is ok
More and more I wanted the Jets to take AJ Hawk or Mario Williams with this pick, but the more I think about it and the closer the draft comes, the best bet for them is DBrick. Everything they say about this guy is that he'll be the franchise LT for years to come. Basically, he's in the Orlando Pace/Jonathan Ogden/Walter Jones category already. I actually missed the senior bowl, but from what everyone has said, he absolutley destroyed the competition, and looked amazing during the game and practices. At this stage in where the Jets are, building around a franchise OL is not a bad move at this point.
Give me Ramsey for a 6th, another 1st for Abe, put Jones at center and assure me Brick is #1 on our board and I'm all for us nabbing him at 4. One problem: The Titans maybe targetting him as well. They have a need at LT and Fisher coached him at the senior bowl. That ccould make a difference.
