How fast people forget that this is only year 2 of the Idzik era. It's really that simple. Were you guys truly expecting SuperBowl or bust? If not, were you at least expecting a competitive team that has at least split these games? Ok, good. Me too, it just hasn't happened. We don't have the talent to be elite or good really but we do have enough to be in every game with the exception obviously being against the Chargers. Do none of you remotely see the benefits of Idzik sitting on that much money going into next year? A LOT of you need to stop getting wrapped up in the media drivel, stop getting wrapped up in a season that was going to be good at best. There was never a real expectation for this team to make it to the Super Bowl. We have a long ways to go yet, but planning ahead for the future is going to give us a much better chance of getting to where we want to be. This past offseason was about bargains, nothing more, which makes sense because you can't turn everything around typically in just two years of a rebuild. I'm still optimistic about this season, I think the best Jet football is yet to come, I've never had any expectation of a Super Bowl run though. I don't know why so many did, it's weird to me. It sucks now but hopefully we will reap the benefits in the very near future. Calm down TGG, we are still in rebuild mode. Don't jump off that cliff just yet.
what exactly have we rebuilt in the past 2 years? Have we improved our oline? How about our secondary? Our Wrs? We clearly don't have a QB for the future .Nothing has improved and there is absolutely no plan in place. We throw away seasons so we can resign some of our own players. Does that make sense?
2013 was the throwaway. This was the year we were supposed to start seeing progress. I guess we should all just accept that a team with 12 draft picks and a ton of cap room should get worse, and not better. Of course!
Years of high draft picks and "building a team" dont mean much if you dont have the right guy to build it. With this theory teams like Oakland and Jacksonville are in year 10 of their rebuilds.
I love it when posters tell others to wake up while they sleep through a complete nightmare. Do people understand that we are heading in the wrong direction??? Rebuilding mode means we are in the mode of rebuilding our franchise to compete again and we are certainly not doing so. Maybe the people starting these silly "Wake Up" threads need to wake up and see what is actually happening. This team is a complete disaster and we are living through the Dick Kotite era all over again with no hope of Bill Parcells coming to our rescue. But, I guess it's us Jets fans who have eyes and common sense who need to "wake up". Hilarious. Only it's not.
Decker hasn't been healthy but that was a good signing. He's really not fit to be a true WR1, imo, but a really good WR2. We have money to spend next year. If Woody and Idzik refuse to spend money on players like Mike Iupati, Torrey Smith, Michael Crabtree, Shane Vereen and Randall Cobb, then we have a problem.
OP is completely wrong on this one. Your team is not "rebuilding" when your GM sits on his hands in free agency and drafts bust after bust who can't even make the under talented roster. Then the team goes out and performs at the bottom of the league in the areas you knew needed fixing the past offseason. That is not rebuilding. That is incompetence.
Precisely. The problem is that last year we were 8-8 and this year our season is over before Halloween.
I felt this team was playing with house money in 2014. They had enough talent where you'd think on paper they could be competitive. But they may be a year away. But based on what I'm seeing it may take longer I just hope I'm wrong.
I will agree that our current roster needs just about every position bolstered in some way. That's on Rex, Woody, Idzik and the scouts led by Teflon Terry Bradway.
The Jets were horrible last year. Scratched out a few wins there to make it look respectable, but really they were awful most of the year. Which was FINE. I was not expecting playoffs this year, I was looking for a record similar to last year, maybe 7, 8, or 9 wins, but with decidedly better play on the field. Progress. Eyeball test. On every one of these fronts, the 2014 Jets are a complete failure.
I'd be tempted to agree with this premise if it wasn't blatantly obvious that our GM is in completely over his head
