http://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-hbo-2014-4 This is a pretty big deal. The completed series of The Wire, The Sopranos, Deadwood and others will be available. Girls, Newsroom, and Veep will come to Amazon 3 years after airing on HBO. I haven't seen anything regarding Game of Thrones so it seems Amazon probably did not grab that. Also, I haven't seen anything regarding Curb Your Enthusiasm. However, if you don't have cable or a HBO subscription (or someone's HBO subscription login/password) you now have access to a bunch of HBO series that regarded very highly by viewers and critics. This is also a big grab for Amazon Prime as it tries to compete with Netflix's catalog. This also explains why their streaming box the Amazon Fire does not have a HBO Go app I guess.
I still pay for cable because I spend 75% of my viewing pleasure with original content from HBO, Showtime, Cinamax. With that said I already have and love HBOGO
Yeah this isn't exactly HBOGO because it was eat away at the benefit of having their cable subscription, but this a good plus for consumers since it's for a service that was not allowing their shows to be streamed outside of HBOGO. I also have HBOGO. I probably watch more stuff from their catalog than from Netflix or Hulu. I really never used Amazon Instant Video, only once when they gave me movie credits
I didn't want to start a separate thread, but did anyone watch the HBO series 'The Night of'? I'm about to start episode 3, the acting is really good so far, but I have to say there's a huge glaring plot hole/mistake IMO. High class drug addled ho (or some rich guy's daughter who gives her everything - don't know yet) winds up stabbed to death in an extremely expensive brownstone after a night of casual sex and drugs with the main character. So that's that, and the mystery is whether he did it or not in a drug-fueled haze and doesn't remember. Now here's the plot hole/mistake. You mean to tell me in a ritzy neighborhood in NYC that you have no surveillance system and no alarm?! That may seem like a minor complaint, but I really don't think it is. My guess is they had to forego that otherwise they wouldn't have a story, haha. Lame. I've seen plenty of brownstones that have security doors and bars on the windows on the lower floors. However, the victim's brownstone it's like a house in the country surrounded by Fort Dix Sometimes I don't mind knowing how things end before I get there. I'm one of those that sometimes flips to the last chapter of a book when I'm about halfway through, haha. So, I'm to be clear I'm ASKING someone to ruin it for me by using the Spoiler function, which will block people from seeing the answer unless they click on it. I tried to find the spoiler online and couldn't. What I did find was that there's a possibility of a second season? Don't tell me I have to sit through the entire show only to find out that they leave you hanging because I'll scream. I hate that shit. I'm going to assume the main character gets convicted but I have a feeling that the show is going to leave the viewer guessing as to his guilt. OK, so yeah, use the spoiler and ruin it for me. Thank you for your cooperation!
Are you talking about the In the Night of that was a few years ago? There was a thread on here about it I think (too lazy to look). If so it's a remake of an old BBC series anyway. Turturo and his feet were excellent and the series started really well but I thought just couldn't keep up the intensity throughout.
Yes, that's the one. So many things are mined from the Brits and people don't even realize it. I used to love almost all of the BBC murder/mystery/detective shows, but we don't get the channel anymore. :/ PBS does some re-runs at times, but not close to all of them. I'm definitely going to finish it. Turturro and the lead who plays Naz are doing a great job so far.
