Mike Francesa on WFAN just said that when he was at Jets camp, when he spoke with Tannenbaum, he had also heard from his sources that Deuce Mcallister is extremely available for a #2 this year and a #3 next year that becomes a #1 next year if Deuce rushes for 1,500 yards. Sounds very interesting
I still would like to see them hold onto those picks. I hate trading draft picks, particularly high ones and particularly for a guy who is coming off major knee surgery.
I'd like it for that 3rd round deal. I doubt Deuce McAllister will be able to stay healthy a whole season anyway, so we don't have to worry about that 1,500 yard condition being met. Besides, if he manages to approach that figure, just bench him. It's not like we'll be playing for a playoff spot or anything.
I really don't understand what any of that means but I'd rather have given up our 2 1st round picks and our 3rd in 06 for Bush.
Maybe I wrote that wrong. Francesa said he heard from a major source that McAllister is available for 2007- 2nd round pick and 2008- 3rd round pick (becomes a first rounder if he rushes for 1,500 yards) Remember the Jets have two 2nd rounders next year so essentially they'd be getting McAllister without touching their draft next year.
The healthier part I understand. What am I missing with the younger part? What does the guy have to be 12? He's only 28.
I have a feeling he failed Mangini's physical cause the Jets all of a sudden were presented with a better deal.
