It may be a tad early, but these prospects are sleepers who I think the Jets should look at in the 7th or as UDFAs(when they're able). Most are project guys or future backups, but I believe they could potentially contribute in some capacity. I'm going for more players that you haven't heard of:

    8) Ben Jacobs, ILB Fresno State(6-4, 243 4.84)

    • Solid Run Stuffer
    • Strong Tackler(Forced 3 fumbles in 1 game, 387 career tackles, 197 solo)
    • Special Teams contributor(7 career blocked kicks)
    • Strictly a 2 down player
    • Marginal Speed

Really like what I saw from him when Fresno State played Wisconsin in '08 & '09, took down their power backs 1-on-1 a few times.

    7) Nate Bussey, OLB/S Illinois(6-1, 228 4.51) Saints, 7th Rd(243)

    • Nose for the ball
    • Experience at Safety
    • Non stop motor
    • Small hands
    • Questionable tackling ability

I noticed Bussey while watching footage on Martez Wilson, he seems to be more instinctual out of the 2. Will likely have to transition back to safety due to the lack of size and strength for LB.

    6) Blaine Sumner, DT Colorado School of Mines( 6-1, 335 5.35)

    • Freakish Strength(50 reps of 225 at Pro Day, holds raw squat record)
    • Consistent(well conditioned)
    • Faster than 40 time
    • Short arms
    • Average Competition

Sumner is one of those odd balls from a smaller school that forces you to take note of him. He's peaked athletically and physically, but if he can translate his raw strength over to the Pros, he will make a team.

    5) Josh Portis, QB/WR California(PA)( 6-2, 211 4.59)

    • Good Athlete
    • Has dormant passing skills
    • Good bloodlines(cousin of Clinton Portis)
    • Raw
    • Character concerns

Once considered the Florida QB of the future and then the Maryland QB of the future, Portis squandered both opportunities with bad decisions. He's more than a athlete playing QB, he has tools to be a passer. One site said it best, think a poor man's Dennis Dixon.

    4) Korey Lindsey-Woods, CB/S Southern Illinois(6-0, 194 4.56*) Bengals, 7th(207)

    • Playmaker(14 career INTs)
    • Loose hips
    • Willing to come down in run support, abet not the strongest tackler
    • Thin
    • Hamstring Injuries

KLW stock was as high as the 3rd round at one point, but his back to back hamstring pulls in postseason workouts have scared some teams off as it might be a foreshadowing of his future. Better at zone than coverage, so he may have a future as a safety. Could go higher than the 7th.

    3) Zane Parr, DT Virginia(6-6, 275 4.90)

    • Great frame
    • Explosive
    • Moves well
    • Raw
    • Production?

An underclassman who had no business declaring early. Will need a year or two to add weight and hone technique, but could payoff. Good athlete for his size, not as stiff as you'd think at 6-6.

    2) Byron Stingily, OT Louisville(6-5, 313 4.95) Titans, Rd 6(175)

    • Good Athlete
    • Great feet
    • Engages & Controls
    • Still learning the position
    • Lacks power in his hands

A former 235 pound defensive lineman, Stingily came to Louisville out of JuCo to start 24 games at LT for the Cardinals. Regarded as one of the best athletes on the team by coach Charlie Strong, but also admittedly raw. A riser who may still be rising, may not be around in the 7th.

    1) Gabe Miller, DE/OLB Oregon State(6-3, 250 4.62) Chiefs, 5th Rd (140)

Wrote an extensive piece awhile back on him:

Others who were considered: Karl Klug(DT, Iowa), Courtney Smith(WR, USA), Zach Clayton(DT, Auburn), David Carter(DT, UCLA) and AJ Jackson(WR, Cal(PA)).

I like the sound of picks 1-3. Here's hoping.

#2 on my list goes to the Titans in the 6th.

He has tremendous upside and is going to a great OL coach...

I knew I should have posted this before the draft, no way it was gonna get reads during.

Regardless, 4 of my 8 were drafted, and 3/5 were drafted from my others considered...
