Hey guys, I know a lot of you are really into the game. I've only just started playing Madden, with the '07 version. I was a fan of ESPN football for a few years, but now, since I don't have a choice, I'm playing Madden. Anyway, I'm in my first season, and I want to trade Doug Jolley, Ray Mickens, and Tim Dwight away. I'm only asking for draft picks in return, and I've got a bunch of offers on the table. Only problem is, I can't execute the trades, since it would push those teams' rosters over the 55 man limit. I'm just trying to dump these douchbags 1) cuz I don't want any of them on my team (they never see action,) and 2) I'm just trying to stockpile picks while clearing some room for a couple free agents I wouldn't mind bringing in. I've got the cap space, and the players to dump off, so I want to get these trades done, with the hope that I can blow the draft wide open in season 2. Anyone got any advice for getting these trades through? TIA.
1. find a team that got the roster Space. (pretty hard) 2. Include 1-2 of the worst players of your trade partner to the trade (prefer older players, since the don?t have much tradevalue). You gotta take care, that your partner has enought depth at tha position, too. 3. Split the trade, make 2 trades and you it sould be easier to find a tradepartner.
I sort of managed that by trading Blaylock and Ramsey plus a third round pick to the Bears for Thomas Jones and a corner with like a 63 rating. I'm trying to stockpile draft picks, that's the problem. By trading a bunch of players I don't want, with decent ratings, I'm hoping to get picks. I was hoping to find a way to avoid bringing in more players, especially garbage ones that will affect my cap if I release them. For that much, I may as well just dump Jolley, Mickens, and Dwight. Thanks for the answer though. I appreciate the help!
If you want to be a cheating bastard and get the first overall pick, you can turn off the trading block and wait until week 17 and trade your first rounder for the worst teams first rounder. But what I notice is that the first 5 years or so in the franchise all the top 10 players in the draft are pretty much all DEs, which gets annoying because then there are rarely any good players at other positions such as DT and WR. Also if you want a great upgrade at TE and FB just wait til after the draft or use one the later round picks to pick one up. They usually progress fast and are usually ranked in the 80's as well.
Yeah, I'm really trying not to cheat. I was just trying to figure out a way of getting rid of the guys I really don't want on the team. Dwight will never play a snap for me. Ramsey wasn't going to either. I traded Blaylock just to be able to acquire Jones, but I had him returning kicks in pre-season, and he was doing fine. (And Miller is just as fumbly in Madden as he is in real life, :lol What I would do, but can't seem to, is dump the lowest rated player for say, San Fran, who is offering a 4 and 5 pick for Dwight, just to make the room. But it doesn't look like that's possible. It would definitely be cheating, but it's not like they're going to use a 3rd stringer anyway, and they want Dwight. Damn you EA! Just let me have my trade!!!
Yeah seriously. -------------------- Anyway, I managed to trade Mickens to the Vikes for a 4th rounder. I also moved out Dwight for a 5th rounder to Oakland. I'm going into week 5 now, just one more week to dump Jolley, but no one will even give me a 5th rounder for him. I wanted to dump Kimo too, but no one wants anything to do with him for any price.
Once you have all your picks stockpiled, start trading them for better picks. Like a couple 7th rounders for a 5th, two 3rd rounders for a second. etc. I usually end up with no less than 4 first round picks by just doing that.
Yeah, that was my plan. That's why I was trying to stockpile them. I figured I could walk away with 4 or 5 day one picks.
