m/2015/11/18/9758550/mike-maccagnan-speaks-to-the-press Surprised no one asked him to elaborate on "long term plans" for team Plus, He doesn't see making playoffs as crucial as Bowles wants it Lotsa insight into where Fitz, Geno, Mo Wilk, Petty and Richardson future lies
Certainly doesn't bode well for Geno's future with the Jets. I don't see any enthusiasm coming from the FO or the CS regarding Smith. They say the right things, but it does sound just a bit contrived. Geno should ask for his release at the end of the season, move on and start fresh somewhere else.
I feel somewhat comforted by the fact that it's not going to take 3 years by this CS and FO to realize that Geno sucks and they have to move on. Pryor is in his natural position, thank you TB. Moving forward I feel Mac is going to do fine, the drafts will be sound, not perfect but sound. In turn that will lead to an upward movement by the team. All we need is a young top ten QB and this team will be a consistent contending team, that's all I can ask for at this time.
If we win more games over the next 7 how do we get a top ten QB in draft? Looks like we give Petty a try after RF playing days over
The Jets could also use a top 36 pick on a QB they view as likely to be a successful NFL starting QB. Even if they make the playoffs it's not that hard to trade out of the end of the 1st round and into the top of the 2nd and pick up something nice in addition.
I have a feeling he won't have to ask. Geno has an AWFUL attitude, prob one of the worst I've seen from a QB.
They might not be worth a Top ten but THERE ARE PLENTY to consider drafting when they are on the board. I want to pick up a David Carr...a Russell Wilson... keep throwing pickles(draft picks) at the window(roster) until one sticks
I've been thinking they trade him. Not for much mind you, probably for a conditional low round pick or a straight trade of another seldom used player who Mac sees potential in. I'd wager at least one team will look at him as a solid backup option to develop given his combo of youth, physical upside and experience. As is I think there would be a minor competition over his services should he hit free agency. His demand wouldn't be Manning levels obviously, but I think we'd see a couple scenarios where he'd look viable. say Dallas might want to look up a different more permanent QB2 option or something Leaves Geno someplace where he's less of an afterthought, and us with something new to develop while we focus on Petty at QB.
i thought geno would run out his contract here, but just learned its a million dollar savings against the cap to cut him. i think he is gone. wanted to see him play this year, but i am ok with the way fitz is keeping him off the field. question now is does petty come in to 2016 as qb2 or do we sign a jag from the matt flynn types?
He should stick around for his own safety/protection. At least here he knows nobody is going to kick his ass (anymore).
Maybe because his initial foray into the NFL (1st PS game) was bad vs his second where he markedly improved... You can not say that about Geno even now...
Would be very difficult to get something in return. Plus, Fitzpatrick has that possibility of getting hurt by not sliding on his runs. Petty needs another year of waiting.
I don't get what your trying to say. His first game he was bad and then improved so that means he isn't going to be good?
Mac presser: re-arranging chairs on the Titanic. How many times have we hear similar rhetoric from first year GMs: Idzik, Tanny, Bradway, Parcells, Steinberg...etc: "making progress...like where we're headed....blah blah blah"
All you anti-Geno idiots are the same ppl who (correctly) say Petty is right where he needs to be. On the bench for 1-2 full seasons learning. A privilege Geno was never afforded yet won 12 games in his first 2 seasons. Question: How do you think Petty would have done if he was forced to started this season?
Maybe he should explain his long term plans in full. Ya know include his potential draft board and everything right?
