Did it seem like LT had most of the reps last night, it seems like when Greene is in the game he just hits the hole and is 5 yards down the field before they even touch him.
LT had a lot more to prove. Green was killing it out there no point in wearing him down when hes got an incredibly long season ahead, LT looked kinda flat when running the ball, his only great run got called back on that penalty. At least he proved hes still got something, but we shouldnt expect to see it often. LT looked good on passing plays though
LT had 8 rushes and one catch. and one big run called back and another reception called back. he did have more reps but Greene didn't play second quarter. Greene runs with a very good pad level and can explode through holes even if contact is made. LT is verrrrry subtle in his shifty moves and simply avoids tackles in holes somehow and uses vision to get more yards. two different styles but not ur usual power/speed combo. both are more well rounded but bring a different playing style to the game
I would love for them to try and give LT more carries early in the season so that Greene is fresh for our playoff run. If the offense is productive with LT their is no reason to over work greene.
I want to see them try and work McKnight in with the 1's, he looks like he has some good moves but there was nowhere for him to run
Like LT catching passes out of the backfield as a 3rd/4th option. Other than that, let him run the ball now bc Greene has a long season ahead. Liked seeing Sanchez check down to LT a few times. Showed he is reading the defense well.
Shonn Greene looked tremendous, I'm glad they took him out after just a few carries. The coaches know what they have with this guy, no need to push him in the preseason any more than they have to and get him hit. Save it for the games that count. I really liked seeing LT out there as a safety valve for Sanchez. He's going to catch 40+ balls this year and is a good guy for Sanchez to lean on. He's extremely motivated and showed some burst yesterday, especially on the overturned TD and the 3rd and 13 where he outran the defender to the corner. That was a dimension our offense was lacking last year when Leon went down. I'd like to see McKnight get some work with the first team line in the next game to see what he can do. You can't really get a good feel for him running with the 3rd string linemen.
this thread title should read, "LT + Greene" they looked like they will compliment each other quite well, this year
They are the real thunder and lightning. Greene runs with such a low pad level that he almost always delivers the blow when getting tackled. LT has a lot more of that HOF burst left than most people think. I think NFL fans are going to be surprised with his stellar play this year.
Yup. They're going to be a great tandem. As for Greene's reps, I'd rather he get less now. His style leads to greater injury risk. Let LT run around and avoid contact for the meaningless games. Use Greene when it actually matters.
I'd like LT to start games because of his pass blocking and pass catching abilities. He'll softened up the defense for a fresh Greene to come in and punish them late when the defense is tired, similar to how the Cowboys use to use Marion Barber.
LT looked like he had good burst thru the hole. Greene looked punishing when he met the defender. Both FB's looked great from what I saw.
It didn't help that the 2nd and 3rd team units weren't creating any holes or lanes for him to run through. Last night it looked like LT did in fact still possess an extra gear, and laterally he still he looked very agile and shifty. It was nice to see.
Greene looked great, Conner + Greene should definitely be called the Pain Train for the rest of the season. LT looked good too, he showed that great cut/burst on a couple plays. I was very impressed with him. The penalty calling his TD back was A) Bullshit and B) had nothing to do with the play.
