I don't know if anyone noticed this.......Cimini on ESPN.com says the deal is for 2 years 1.81 million. Solid re-signing and a very underrated long snapper........more good news

Long Snappers are the best jobs in the game...You don't have to do anything but toss a football from your ass and push 300 pounds forward

Until you screw up in the big moment, and have an entire city/state/region want to slaughter you and your lineage for multiple generations.

    Vastly overpaid.

The market on long snappers is low right now. Mac is like a teenage girl with her first credit card. Spending money like crazy.

I'm so sorry if I'm missing your sarcasm here, but this is a very typical long snapper contract.

Typing this out made me realize that there's a 95% chance you're being sarcastic.

What if he's good at this job based off performance evaluations and Nick Folk is comfortable with him?

Well then maybe I can understand this contract. As of right now, this is a huge hit on our cap and money that could have better been spent elsewhere

Not imo, unless you're being sarcastic. Purdum has been very good. AFAIK, he hasn't made one bad snap in his time here. Guys like that are worth every penny they get. When you have a good one, you don't mess around low-balling them or signing one who is cheaper. He works well with Folk. You don't want to mess around with that.

Yes....I actually thought $900,000 a year is a pretty good deal especially when you're dealing with familiarity. The article mentions he is the 17th highest paid LS now. So he is NOT overpaid.....

Don't you guys remember the documentary "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective"? It really underlines the importance of the long snapper.

Anyways, on a less (lame) jokey note- long snapper is the only position in the NFL where you're expected to be perfect all the time. They don't expect punters to nail it in the corner every time, they don't expect kickers to make every 50 yard field goal, etc - the long snapper can't make any significant mistakes, ever. Although it's obviously easier than any other position, the expectation of perfection (just to keep your job) is a heavy burden.
