If Murphy runs in the high 4.2s/low 4.3s like Urban Meyer and the Florida coaching staff claims, he'll get picked before the 3rd round. The knock on him is the spread option offense - none of the Gator receivers are solid route runners. Everything is basically an option routes.
I would love a new jersey with Murphy on the back, but thats about all I know about the guy, maybe Nicks will change his name to Murphy and all will be well. lol
i read a report that said he will be a better pro than college player because he's a better fit in a proset than in the spread.i dunno i think he might be a decent pick if he's there in the 3rd which is a perfect spot to take a wr since they take 3 years to mature in the nfl
Yeh, more or less thats exactly the problem, I often wonder about the players going to certain schools that guarantee poor positional development
It's the system........some can adjust, most cannot, you're behind the Eight-Ball from the begining. QB position is probably the most important positon .... where the system is everything.
Louis Murphy looks like a great wide receiver. Though he never really had the opportunity to stand out at Florida, the guy’s about 6’3 210, and has been timed under 4.4 in the 40 yard dash. He had his best season in college this past year, catching 38 passes for 650 yards and 7 TDs, and yes, that’s a 17.2 yard per catch average. Murphy is a great downfield home-run threat type receiver, one who would be better suited for the slot. His lack of productivity in college might lead to a drop in his draft stock, and I’ve seen him pegged as late as the 3rd round in some mocks. The Jets could do far worse with their 2nd or 3rd round selection.
His lack of productivity has nothing to do with it - it's Urban Meyer's variation of the spread that kills Murphy's high round hopes. At UF, Murphy played in the offense that is the furthest from any type of pro-style system. (...besides the triple option) His route running is a huge question mark. The size and speed are there - but that's not all you need in the NFL. (Similar prospect to Darius Heyward-Bey)
As a college prospect Murphy is not on par with what Chad Jackson was, and he is probably similar to Jabar Gaffney/Reche Caldwell/Andre Caldwell coming out of school, I'd say he's a little more highly regarded than Dallas Baker, but that being said, UF WRs do not fare well, as MR.E and WW85 both said...
