I know we have a lot of sad sacks around here today, but a happy sack belongs to a one Leonard Williams!! Leo's insane sack of the ever elusive Blake Bortles was just the first on a list of many positives from today's showdown! Isaiah Crowell may not have impressed you on the stat sheet with negative yards and a safety but he did impress me in the mental game. After his 1 yard rush Crowell had the wherewithal to not celebrate and get a costly penalty. Todd must have spoken to him, and you can tell the crow is poised for a 20 yard breakout game vs the broncos ! Robby Anderson made a catch over the middle and held on all the way to the ground. This was a major step forward for Robby after fumbling on his last 5 caches over the middle. Robby is now number 401 for jets all time receptions and I know you will all want to be there for when he becomes our number 400 reception leader of all time so get on down to MetLife Sunday ! Trumaine Johnson keeps on proving why we spent the big bucks on him! Elite talents like donte moncrief come along once in a generation so it was very exciting and promising to see him only give up 130 yards and a touchdown to a future canton inductee. The field was hot by Meyers leg was hotter! in a revenge game for Meyers against his old squad he showed them what they were missing out on as he hit 2 field goals to ignite a spirited jets comeback and put the fear of god into jags fans everywhere. Bowles punting on 4th down while down 2 possessions under 5 minutes may seem silly to some, but new jack city was firing on all cylinders, Bowles was foaming at the mouth at the mere chance of getting this illustrious unit onto the field. Also it's kinda unfair that Bowles spent the whole week prepping for backup Cody Kessler and the jags pull a fast one on us and start bortles, cmon Marrrone that's bush league brah Lastly but certainly not least with their backs against the wall and time running out the jets stopped a 2 point conversion attempt for the jaguars late in the 4th. It took all hands on deck to force an errant pass by pro bowler Blake bortles.
I was at the game. Anyone that says there were definitive "positives" are just drinking the green kool aide. The jets were dominated on both offense and defense today to make for an extremely disappointing experience. No adjustments on defense to cover the crossing routes ( DD westbrook ??) Was the only name I heard all day. Offense continues to be as predictable as ever. 1st down, run. 2nd down, throw to the flat, 3rd down throw over the middle. Punt rinse repeat. O-line was beaten like a drum all day which caused Darnold to run for his life every pass he took. The kid never had a chance. If he wasn't mobile to avoid the rush, Jax would have had 10 sacks today, it was a total disgrace. (Edit) - I am sorry I jumped to conclusions my fellow jets fans, I scanned the OP and didn't pick up the sarcasm spewing from the post
You basically hit on the problem. Right now, the Jets are basically a repeat of last year's team. The only difference is that we have a young QB learning the game. So, there is hope. However, the results are the same. No offense means the defense has to play things close to the vest and can't dictate like they did in the Detroit game. Still, the D played fairly well giving up the first Jags TD late in the 2nd Q, but zero points at the half and 1 TD and 2 FG's is not enough offense to win. Going forward, I think we can expect any team that has even a decent pass defense like Jacksonville, Miami or Cleveland to make it very difficult for the Jets to win.
The sarcasm drips heavy with this one. This should be in the running for Post Of The Year - yes that's right the POTY Award, which is so appropriate since the Jets effort belongs in the potty and their coach IS a Bowle after all. But as the season unfolds, and we witness more potty performances from this crew, I'm sure it will inspire the OP and others to step up their game to find new ways to ridicule this clueless franchise. Great post 6-10 once again (but after another 5-11 season - or worse - you might have to change your handle).
Yeah, but that's for the whole game. Granted they have weapons on offense. But the D kept the game close for 1 3/4 of the first half. Just like last year, you can't expect a decent D, like the Jets have, to shut down an opposing offense for the entire game if your own offense isn't doing anything.
Another positive observation about the game - Jets didn't have to waste all that gator-ade dumping on Bowles for a coaching job well done.
In no way, shape, or form did the defense play well yesterday, and the only positive thing there is to say is that at least every player and coach on the Jets who has opened their mouth has said that quite explicitly.
The funny thing is of the 2 Donte Moncrief was the FA I wanted; more bang for the buck. He only signed a 1 year deal with Miami so he will be available next year just in time for us to now overpay him. 2018 FAs: Even With a Ton of Cap Space, Can the Jets Really Do Much Fix the Roster? Post by: legler82, Aug 22, 2017 in forum: New York Jets
Despite fatass Lenoard Williams' first sack of the season and Blake Bortles' interception which was more like a long punt, the Jets lost an equivalent of 10 baseball games yesterday. Todd Bowles' lazy coaching came into full display when he decided to punt with less than 5 minutes to go in the game being down 2 scores. Chris Johnson and the Jets are now 0-3 in bring home conference wins this season. Probs to the Jagaurs for a good game.
