HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — The injury hits just keep coming for the Jets. Sunday night, just two nights after six players went down during a preseason win over the Falcons, rookie outside linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin had to leave the Jets' annual Hofstra University with what head coach Todd Bowles described as a knee injury. Immediately after practice, Bowles did not know how serious Mauldin's injury was. The Jets had 13 players scratched from Friday's game, though several did return to practice Sunday, including defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson, offensive tackle James Brewer, and wide receiver Chris Owusu. Safety Calvin Pryor, who had missed a week to tend to a death in the family, was also back in action Sunday night.
Injuries I hate: Devin Smith Lorenzo Mauldin Chris Owusu Jeremey Kerley Dee Milliner Muhammed Wilkerson Geno Smith Jace Amaro Injuries that will have long-term effect: Geno Smith Lorenzo Mauldin (?TBD) Devin will be back Week 1, Owusu already practicing, Kerley out for a little with concussion, Milliner will be back Week 1, Wilkerson already practicng, Jace should be ready for Week 1 or Week 2.
we might be able to afford to lose him, because I do not know how far along he was with assignments and stuff, but I hate seeing a young guy get a knee his first pre season. Hopefully a mild sprain
He limped to the locker room and wasn't carted there so hopefully it's not too bad...or our team doctors are idiots.
Without Mauldin we do not have any up and coming dpr's on this team. Its a fucking shame that a team that has drafted defense so much has not put more of an emphasis on finding a great olb.. Here's to hoping its just a tweak.......
