Ok, its about that time.. where I have basically locked up a playoff spot (only undefeated team left and have a 3-game lead on everyone else) and usually now I like to either pull some trades or make some moves based on playoff matchups.. I have to deal with a defense bye week (Eagles) and unfortunately don't have a backup defense.. This is what I am thinking... Miami's defense, after falling off a little was dropped and i could pick them up straight up swap the Miami DEF for the eagles.. Assuming I keep my dominance up to the point I have a 1st round by the playoff matchups look like this.. PHI wk15- Giants wk 16- Vikings MIA wk 15- Buffalo wk 16- Detroit Miami's defense has to be favored more than the eagles in the playoffs and i feel that in our division, they are going to be playing hard the whole season.. So, do i drop the higher ranked and better performing defense for Miami's and hope it pays off later?..
This league better be for a shitload of money if your worrying about defensive match ups ten weeks from now.
LOL.. i don't know what qualifies for a shitload but its a 12-team 100$ buy in with my friends.. I'm more worried about this week, since I have a bye with my defense and dont wanna lose my undefeated title.. so I was just saying, do i drop the eagles defense for a worse defense.. to fill in for this bye week they will definitely be picked up next week, with the waiver system, I can't pick them up unless they clear waivers.. which they won't.. so i am trying to figure out a way to justify dropping the eagles and picking up a bye-week plug in.. because the rest of my team is pretty solid and no one else is worth dropping for a defense.. I have akers too so I'm prob going without a kicker this week as well..
I wouldn't be too afraid of dropping a defense unless you got the Titans, or Steelers. Same rule goes for Kicker. You could always mix n match down the road.
Unless defensive scoring is ridiculous (I'M TALKING TO YOU, MBGREEN) I never worry about defenses. But Miami isn't a bad defensive stash. 2 home games against 2 pretty bad teams in weeks 15 and 16.
I can promise you that you'll score better playing the match-up game every week with FA/waiver defenses than starting the Eagles every week. It helps to see who teams like Arizona and San Francisco are playing since their offenses are pretty abysmal. Dallas and Minnesota opponents can be good too if they have Kitna and Jackson going.
