Looking into next year, these are some of the things I see:

    1. To be cut: Shaun Ellis, Bryan Thomas, Jason Taylor

    2. Won't be resigned: Damien Woody

    ------------------------------------------------------

While releasing all these people will definitely hurt the team chemistry, they will have to drop the heavy cap figures if they intend to hold onto the young core guys whose contract expires after this season.

So... this means Jets' need next year will be: 3-4 OLB(x2), 3-4 DE, RT

Also getting up there in age is Kris Jenkins, and he will need his replacement sooner than later.

    Thoughts?

I can see a FA DL/LB or maybe a OL from there... the FA pool will give us someone.

The FO better draft someone awesome for the front 7 next year, maybe two guys.

Its going to be a glaring hole next year. This year its good enough to hold up due to the genius of the scheme.

Hopefully Ducasse is ready to play RT. If he isn't, we may have to stick with Woody another year and hope Revis doesn't mind waiting another year to be paid.

IMO in 2011 Ducasse will be our starting RT and Slauson our starting LG...

We need to draft a 3-4DE and an OLB in the first rounds... afte that NT prospect and then BPA...

I wouldn't be opposed to a Bryan Thomas re-signing for like 2 years at 1.5 mill per year...

Just to be clear, I was talking about the 2011 season, since that what the thread is referring to.

Well Ellis is going into a contract year and its fairly obvious, even disregarding his age, to see he wont be resigned. Woodys contract runs till 2012 so he could be cut. Also I really dont know about Bryan Thomas getting cut, its been a topic on the forums for a while and it hasnt happened. It could be next off season seeing how his contract expires post 2011. I think it all depends on the pass rusher available

I will say this, in the years Tanny has drafted guys he really hasnt ever drafted a "pass rusher". We all know that he reluctantly gave into Mangini wanting to draft Gholston but outside of that pick he has never drafted another pass rusher, which has seemingly been a need since he arrived

Probably going to need another receiver once we lose Holmes and/or Edwards.

I can see Ellis playing for another year at around 1 mill...

I mean you never know, Ellis hasnt been half bad he's obviously not the player he was 6 years ago but he has done alright in the 3-4
