if you don't like looking ahead then skip this thread. we never laid a glove on brady in our last match up, and we all agree hitting him hard and often is key to winning the game. so one thought on how to rattle brady is this: Instruct our DBs and safeties to grab and tackle any receiver, TE, or RB leaving the line of scrimmage. Simply deny all passing options at any cost. Then blitz every other player including all 4 line backers. With no where to throw and no where to hide, brady will get hit hard. Sure, our DBs will get a 5 yard 'holding penalty' but brady will get killed. then do it again. and again. if we do this on first downs then all we're giving up to smear the queer is a 5 yard holding penalty. sounds good to me!
The only way and I mean the only way to even have a chance against New England if we see them again is to develope some kind of pass rush which seems to be a huge problem for us.Either that or try and match them score for score and that means puttin up at least 35 points I would say.

i'm quite serious. think back a few superbowls ago when belicheck ordered his backfield to KILL the colt receivers every play, even if they weren't getting the ball. that was unusual but extremely effective, in fact that's the game that forced many of the new rules in the nfl. i would give up 5 yards to hit brady. unusual? yes. effective? got to be better than never touching him for 60 minutes.
if we tackle their receivers at the LOS, we can blitz 8 men at once without a fear of getting burned deep. if an 8 man blitz aint a pass rush, i don't know what is!
yes, the playoff game where the colt receivers were mugged hard every play. that was a deomic but effective strategy. we can do one better!
So your strategy is to draw a penalty flag on every play? You're thinking when he's sitting 1st and goal from the 1 he will be too sore to throw that TD pass? Sounds like something I would think of when I was 10.
no, just sprinkle this in from time to time. Like when rex call his cover zero all out blitz, have our DB's tackle the receivers at the LOS. Elimiates the passing threat and brady can't beat the blitz if he has no one to throw to. plus he gets hit hard.
So when Cromartie whiffs on Branch or Welker and Brady hits them for an 80 yard td, where does that leave the plan?
same as it leaves us the last game, but with 8-9 jets all gunning for brady's head he won't have 8.3 seconds to get the ball out.
First of all, that was not a superbowl, as other posters have mentioned. Also, it worked for us because the physical style of our DBs was within the rules at the time. After that game, Dungy complained to the NFL and subsequently new rules were implemented (probably a patriot fan's perspective of events, but that is the way that I have always heard it). From Yahoo! Why not just call 11 man blitzes, except have the entire team run offsides and just crush Brady before the play goes off ? I mean its just 5 yard penalties and hes bound to get hurt sooner or later. Maybe well have all our players study Gronkowskis technique he used on Ihedigbo as well.
Don't you think the refs would get wise to that and start penalizing the Jets for any and all infractions? Real or otherwise? Eject a few players? I suppose you could complain to the commissioner but since you were trying to intentionally hurt other players I doubt you would get much sympathy. I understand the frustration here but... On the other hand, I think Ryan needs to come up with some new blitz packages just for the Patriots. One that Brady hasn't seen. I think he's getting familiar with the ones the Jets currently use.
