I swear to God I was just thinking the same thing. I just saw the hit, it was not helmet to helmet. The Giants got a LOT of calls tonight. And while there was some improvement, it reminds me of something a GM said this summer: If you consider going from ridiculous to slightly less ridiculous progress, then sure there's been progress.
That was just a flash of how explosive this guy can be. He has got everything you need to be great linebacker..speed and power. The only thing that seems to be missing at times intensity and confidence in his abilities. I am excited that some of those traits came out tonight. It wasnt perfect, but he looked like a football player out there for the most part, so lets hope this game helps his confidence and his natural ability shine.
Haha...hey, he's got to start somewhere. Honestly, he looked a lot better, but he's not even decent yet.
LMAO at this whole topic, he actually had a ok game tonight, just because you are not hearing his name 30 times a game doesn't mean he is not doing his job. Being a OLB in the NFL is not all about the big thrills of a sack, he got pressure, I thought he plugged the holes pretty well, was held on one play that might well of been a sack and got the other, and the call that it was helmet to helmet was BS. Give the guy some slack, he looks improved and your calling him a bust..........come on man.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the hit. But for those of you saying that wasn't helmet to helmet must have been watching from a bar where there was no sound cause you could probably hear the helmets clash from the top of the upper deck.
Dont give a shit if it was helmet to helmet, it was explosive and violent and I loved every second of it.
If he does that to Tom Brady in Week 2, I'd gladly take the 15 yards everytime, lol. Carr got crushed. Penalty or not, Gholston made a play and I was happy. In fact he had on ok game. If Ryan can get this guy to really play he could turn into somethin. I'm not ready to lift the "bust" label yet, but there was a glimmer of hope today. The fact that anyone has something positive to say about Gholston means he's going in the right direction. Now that he's on course, we'll see how long it takes him to arrive (if at all).
Think it took the shoulder and then it slid up onto the helmet, didn't look like a 100% helmet to helmet hit intentions on injuring. Like he said though it was explosive it was violent and we have been waiting a year for that, so damn right we are pretty excited about it.
Figures the first game i can not watch live in a long time and VG shows up? I can't wait for the replay on NFL network at 10 am now. Any signs of life out of the big guy would be great for our defense this year.
Haha I see.... I had to step away after the 3rd Q. Regardless, it's a whole different game taking on backup OL.
