    From the the DailyNews:

"Abraham got an $8.3 million qualifying offer as a franchise player, the average salary of the five highest-paid defensive ends. That money already is counting against the Jets' cap. If he signs the tender, the money becomes guaranteed, although that wouldn't preclude the Jets from dealing him."

Does this mean that since the Jets are already under the 94.5 cap, that if he is traded that frees up 8.3 mil more? I believe it does, but i do not want to get excited about it until one of you cap freaks fills me in. If this is true, that is enough to sign all the rookies and a solid free agent.

    Newsday:

"Rosa and his partner, Tony Agnone, said they have not formally requested a trade, which would wipe Abraham's $8.3-million salary as the team's franchise player off the Jets' books. Abraham wants a long-term deal -- if not from the Jets, then from another team -- and wants to be traded before the April draft. Rosa cited a "lack of respect" in how Abraham has been treated"

That seems to be the case, very nice. Guess i got a little confused because they were saying the Jets had to get under the cap before Abraham could be signed and then dealt, I guess they had to get 8.3 million under the cap, theoretically that is. This is very good, he will be missed, but the money will be used for several players that will help the team all around and more substantially than Abe could.

He hasn't signed the tender yet, so he is not included in the number under the cap. If he signs, we have to clear room under the cap.

Thus, if he's traded, it's practically a wash, since he doesn't count against the cap at the moment anyway.

    Abe to Denver

I live in denver and i was listening to 650 am this morning and the talk about Abe to the Broncos is as real as it gets .The hosts were discusing the needs of the team and they agreed that a pass Rush and WR was the teams main needs. They also said that Abe was $2 CHEAPER THAN TREVOR TYRCE WHO WAS CUT. The calleres agreed that they would rather have Abe than Pryce. No mention was made about what compensation the jets will get in the proposed trade. The first 5 callers felt that it would be an awesome trade for the broncos, like they said"Its not everyday that you can get a special player like John Abe"

    You are correct...

So who can one believe, the always up to date with football knowledge Rich Cimini or Abraham's agent.

    Here's what Abraham's agent said in today's Star-Ledger:

When Abraham decides to sign the tender offer, the Jets must make the money available immediately under the cap.

"There's always the possibility of that," said Tony Agnone, one of Abraham's agents, during a conference call. "We're not opening that door or closing that door. ... John isn't looking to stick it to the Jets. He just wants to do what is in his best interest (to facilitate a trade)."

If it happens, the Jet fans who believe Herman Edwards ruined their lives will show up at Bronco message boards saying what a dog piece of s*** Abraham is.
