just heard them talking about lito shepperd being a good fit for the jets.
    my question is:
what do you think about us swapping picks with the eagles, plus a pick in maybe the 4th, and getting shepperd?
not sure how this adds up in the points chart, so don't kill me.:)

  2. Sirius thinks Eagles could looking for what the falcons got foor Deangelo Hall- a 2nd and 5th. I think Sheppardd is a good option if we trade down and get acouple extra picks for ammo.

Lito Sheppard has been hurt two years in a row. He's a terrible fit, especially at the price Philly is asking.

yeah, i was thinking about the injury factor, also. just thought we may be able to:
    a. save money
    b. fill a need
c.get us an extra guy, maybe a pass rusher?

We can't invest big money in guys like Lito Sheppard. While I don't doubt his talent or athleticism, his inability to stay healthy is always going to be an issue. Part of being a great player is staying on the field.

Our 1st for their 1st,2nd and Lito is roughly fair, I think. According to the value chart:

    6 overall = 1600 pts

    for:

    19 overall = 875 pts
    49 overall = 410 pts

which values Lito at 315, or a later 2nd round pick.

personally, this seems like a good trade to me since I think we can pick up some pretty good players at #19 and #49 and Lito starting opposite Revis would fill a major hole and we can use those 2 picks plus out own 2nd to grab, say, an ILB, S and OLB. It would basically complete our defensive transformation.

  7. I think that'dd be a fantastic trade for us. That fills a huge need, we get another 2nd rounder and can take BPA at the eagles spot.

If I recall the original "rumor". The Eagles wanted to move to somewhere near the 10th pick. So, in the spirit of "moving down", I propose...

If...IF...Gholston & McFadden are out of the picture, I wouldn't mind trading down with the Bengals (9) or Saints (10) for the Ellis sweepstakes (since they both covet him). In addition to moving DOWN to a spot the Eagles prefer, we'd be picking up Bengals/Saints 3rd rounder (a little undervalued by 20+ pts but we'd now have an early 3rd as opposed to NOTHING). We offer the 9th/10th to the Eagles for their 19th, propose for their 2nd, but more likely can get their 3rd and Lito Shep.

This would leave us at #19, our 2nd (maybe an additional 2nd if we bait the Eagles right), 2-3rd round picks, etc.

    Just a thought...

I wouldn't put this kind of magic past Tanny. Nice scenario.

It may be but Philly is insisting on a 1st for him which is why the whole idea is ridiculous.

What teams insist on and what they get usually are two completely different things. The Jets were asking for a first for DeWayne too.

I love this scenario and because I am absolutely bored right now, I'm going to look up the scenario's and see who we would likely take at each spot.

    #19-Limas Sweed WR
    #36-Curtis Lofton ILB
#78-Cliff Avril (From New Orleans) OLB
    #80-Tom Zbikowski (From Philadelphia) S
    #102-Kendall Langford DE
    #113-Kevin Smith RB
    #171-Peyton Hillis FB
    #211- Jeremy Lehman LB

Now I realize that some of these guys likely won't be there in the round they are drafted, most notably Cliff Avril, but i did this based on Draft Tek's mock and they were taken no more then 5 picks before the selection and others were taken up to the end of that round, Zibikowski I think went at the end of 3, so I took him at 80.

I think it is more than great for the Jets, and I know I would never complain with this draft. Also don't forget we get Lito Sheppard as well. So we fill our biggest needs, CB(Sheppard), S(Zbikowski), WR(Sweed), Pass rushing OLB(Avril), ILB next to Harris(Lofton), 3-4 DE (Langford) FB of the future (Hillis) A special teams demon(Lehman) and a sleeper in Kevin Smith, I think Smith would more than contribute to our team in the long run. This probably would signal the end of the Chatman era in NY however...

I LOVE that draft....Pick up starters and quality depth (big fan of Lehman). However, Lofton would be our ILB and Avril would be on the outside.

I'd love it too, but would want to get some OL depth at one of those 2nd day picks.

Yeah I fixed it in the actual draft, i mislabeled em Fakterx, I had it right in my synopsis down below... but I'm glad somebody else besides me would absolutely love this draft.

honestly Fenwyr we could swap out the Kevin Smith pick for an OL guy, just when I did it, I didn't see an OL worth taking at that point. However, this season since OL is not a huge need of ours, i am not well versed in the later round OL guys this year.

Oh ok I missed that part. Yeah I would actually like to see some OL depth as well because after that draft it would actually be our biggest weakness.

So I live in Philadelphia now and I have to watch the Eagles all the time. Whenever he does play he is awesome. I have been sweating his nuts for awhile now. He is awesome and I would love to see him on our team. I don't think it would ever happen but it would be cool with me. It would be perfect for us if Mcfadden and Gholston were both gone.

Why would we want Sheppard when we have the all-preseason Justin Miller waiting in the wings?
