Bienemy is not going to get a HC job because all these teams are in a hurry and just don’t have the patience to wait. If the Texans are smart, they wait and try to woo him to salvage the Watson relationship.
I don't think Bieniemy is getting screwed because they are winning. I have been reading for the last couple weeks that a lot of GM's do not think Bieniemy is as solid of a candidate for a head coaching position as many people initially thought. A lot of rumors circulating that the KC offense is largely due to Andy Reid and not so much Bieniemy. I actually don't think Bieniemy gets a head coaching job this go around. Not so much because teams won't wait, but more so because teams are not fully sold on him.
Interesting hire. Big Parcells guy and I'm sure accountability will be emphasized. That was probably the least desirable job given their cap hell and lack of talent. Maybe he becomes the next Mike Vrabel though? Certainly looks like he walks the tough guy talk.
Anything's possible. He was the interim coach for the Dolphins right before they hired Gase; they went 5-7 under him.
Bieniemy isn't getting a job because he isn't a good candidate. He's now on his 3rd year of interviews and not one report has listed him as a finalist for these jobs. Kafka will become a HC before Bieniemy.
I imagine him going into interviews.... Q1 - who calls plays for Chiefs? A - Andy Reid Q2 - Who designs plays? A - Andy Reid Q3 - What is your job and how does it translate to a HC position? A - Crickets... next candidate !!
Not sure if I've heard a coach say "You've had enough of that shit" at a press conference before. I think he needs to learn that sometimes less is more - all of that nonsense about biting kneecaps after being knocked down is to me much more stupid than tough.
It's a little bit dopey but who cares? That's a rallying cry to his players more than anything. Don't always have to be politically correct to the media to be a good coach.
Pretty sure I said absolutely nothing about political correctness. What I said was that his comments were stupidly over the top, and they were. Saying stupid things to the media also doesn't make you a good coach. I'll stick with opening press conferences like Saleh's, thanks very much. The nameplate outside his office says "Head Coach / The Dude". Can you imagine what the reaction would be if a Jets coach did that? He seems like a clown to me.
Political correctness was the wrong way to put it. Unorthodox would be a better word. You're entitled to your opinion of course. I don't think the conventional route is always the answer. Head coaching in the NFL is definitely changing.
For your sake, I'm very glad to hear it. He's still way too reminiscent of the worst of Rex Ryan for me.
Campbell seems sincere and I can appreciate a guy doing it his own way, however unorthodox. At worst, he'll bring an energy that's been missing for quite some time. Only thing worse than watching bad football is watching bland, bad football.
