In recent weeks its been brought up that Bryan Thomas has become a good lb in this system. Does this mean linebacker is off our need list or do we still need another linebacker??
I sure as hell hope not... And I have no idea why people claim Thomas has played good. We aren't stopping the run and the QB has had all day to throw in every game this year. Hobson has a pick and a handful of fumble recoveries and even a TD, yet he has been invisible at times. I think both of our OLBs have not done the job, but the stats would tell you otherwise. I think it is critical at this point that we get a passrushing OLB.
I agree. BT has been playing better than recent seasons, but that still doesn't make him a good OLB. At this point, he's just average, which is disappointing since he was a former first round pick and all. He shows flashes every now and then, but needs to be more consistent in terms of rushing the passer. He's far from a gamebreaker, but he does well against the run (something he's been competant at for awhile now). I definitely hope the Jets prioritize on getting a passrushing specialist next offseason. BT alone won't cut it.
I think what everyone else is saying reflects our team right... we need a pass rushing olb and a stud nt which will make barton AND vilma play properly
