It is already less than a week away until the Jets take on the New England Patriots in the Meadowlands. The Jets are coming off a big win on the road against Tennessee. Getting a win at home against a team that has owned them in recent matchups would be a HUGE confidence booster to the entire organization.

Everyone knows about how Chad looked and played on Sunday and I am pretty sure alot of people are suprised at just how well he performed. At times Chad didn't just look like a healthy Chad, he also looked like he was in complete control of the offense and team. He was so cool and collected when it was tied 16-16.

If Chad really wants to prove he is back...all he has to do is win this Sunday. He doesn't have to throw for 300 yards again, but I will say this, he MUST lead the Jets. He needs to perform when it counts. If the Jets are going to win this game it will more than likely come from Chad throwing the ball and making smart decisions.

Here are some key factors to this Sunday's game...

    Jets:

-Slow down the Running game- The Pats piled up alot of rushing yards vs the Bills week one as Dillon and Morency carries the ball.

-Convert on FG's- If we are going to win, we will need to capitalize on all scoring oppurtunites, especially FG's.

-Protect the football- We turned it over twice against the Titans. Good/better teams like the Patriots will burn us if we turn it over multiple times.

-Run the ball to set up passing game- All the Jets seem to lack on offense is a consistent running game. If the Jets can get a little more consistency running the ball, Chad could possibly have a field day on the Patriots.

All in all I actually like our chances Sunday at home. The crowd should be really into it as we looked good in our first game and will be looking to beat the Pats for the first time since 2002.

Chad will have to be the man to lead this team and I believe he can do it.

I look foward to discussing this matchup all week.

    Go Jets!

Let's talk about why you always don't accept the TGG chat invites?

If the Jets got any chance to beat the Pats the perfect time to do it is Week 2 at home after a huge win. Give Barlow the start and hopefully Nugent pulls his head out of his ass.

You don't think we have a chance against the Pats who at times struggled against the Bills at home? I am not saying you are wrong, but I think it wouldn't kill you to respond with why you think we will lose.

The intimate knowledge that the Pats have of the Jets' offense is going to make it hard.

How so? All they will have is the game film...we will have their game tape too. I don't see how they would get the edge out of that.

Maroney and Dillon are going to shred our run defense like tissue paper, that's why.

I was under the impression that a lot of the plays that the team uses are pretty much the same as the Pats.
    Was I wrong?

one difference smart guy...our coach knows their gameplan against Chad. he has helped articulate it for the past handful of years. he knows what how to get around and it more importantly, he knows how Bellichick thinks.

I think that the Bills either over-performed in the first half, while the Pats took them too lightly, or they were better than folks expected them to be. But what separates the Pats from would-be champs is that they know how to stay composed, adjust their game, and come from behind and win. I think the Pats are not as strong as they were last year, but I don't think we are quite good enough to think that we are truly closer to being good enough. It could happen though, we could play our best and they could blow a game. It just isn't very likely.

Gaberiel at no1. makes this offernce alot better.

Chad neeeds to step up the way he did in yesterdays game, the running next needs to be used more, Nugent needs to make some FG's, and the Defense needs to play the same way they did yesterday.

It should be a good game on Sunday :)

Our OC is from the Chargers. If our offense borrows from anybody, it's SD. Our defense on the other hand may be similar to NE's in terms of scheme.

You guys are discounting the importance of the anemic run game to our offense. If we can't establish the run from the first snap, we are doomed right away. Chad needs the play fake to sell to be successful against the passing D of the Pats. With the garbage run game we have, he isn't selling it to anyone.

The Pats have our number. Chad has a tough time against them in the first place. It's going to be a very hard game, if we come out of it at all.

People are discounting the fact that every team is fairly even during week one. Buffalo had as much a chance as any to play decent, which they did. They played decent, and the Pats came out in the second half to smack them up.

Don't expect the Pats to come out half-assed next week. Too many people are getting their hopes up too quickly. If the Jets win Sunday, then it's okay to get a little excited, but we beat the Titans, not the Colts.

The Pats are not the Titans. They have allready been looking at game film of our new O for 12 hours now, unlike Fisher who saw nothing on tape to indicate what we were. The Pats have Brady, Dillon and Marone not Collins and Brown and Henry who got 9 carries yesterday.

This is not a must game for us to win it is a must game for us to show up. In 04 when we were playoff bound the Pats came into the Meadowlands and we lied down like dogs. I expect the Jets to come out like the English did in the battle of Agincourt against the French. Let's hope we get the same results.

How was this discounting the importance of the running game?

I don't think it will take a rocket surgeon to figure out what the Patriots are going to do. We have two rookies on the offensive line, and a mediocre running game. I'd expect that their plan would be to make Chad feel. . . well. . . . uncomfortable.
