Remember that the most important part of the combine is the interview process. Most of these guys have been scouted thoroughly already and what will make or break their draft stock will be the interview not their 40 time. Teams already have seen what they need from how these guys have played on the field. These drills are all BS. Who cares if a QB can hit a WR in the open field with nobody covering him and no pass rush. If these guys made it this far I'm telling you they can do that. Same goes for wr's, rb's, and O-lineman. It's easy to catch when no ones covering you and you don't have a safety waiting to knock your head off. It's easy for a back to run when no one is trying to take him down and it's easy for a lineman to have good footwork when he has no one to block. Most coaches watch these drills more to see if they can get an idea of the fire a player has or what type of work ethic, or if he has the right attitude. The only players that time's actually do matter a lot to is guys coming off injuries. If a guy had knee surgery and before it ran a 4.4 and now runs a 4.8 that will be a flag but for the most part it's all about finding out what type of guy is behind the player they have seen on the field.
Unfortunately that won't affect anyones mindset on some players. If Cutler is a complete jackass everyone will still be whacking off to him because he has a live arm and three good games against three mediocre defenses.
i dont see the reason to get all mad about peoples opinions cause in the end of the day none of us are making the decision on draft day.
