Here's where I'm at with all this. I'm tired of ZW having "training wheels." I'm tired of reading it's the O-Coordinator's fault I'm tired of reading that Saleh is a defensive coach and we need an offensive minded coach I'm tired of reading "Same Ole' Jets" Just let it rip!!!! Open the ENTIRE playbook and let it rip!!! If ZW gets waxed he gets waxed! The team is going to lose either way let's go down in a blaze of glory every single game. I'm tired of watching this team put me to sleep as I watch an anemic disgusting excuse for an offense. Open the damn playbook and if the kid can't "Hack-it" (pun intended) then kick his ass to the curb once and for all! How is it that when our players and coaches go to other teams they seem to do O.K. (It's a general statement and I don't need it nitpicked down to the exact player and/or coach) Brian Schottenheimer is still in the league. He must not suck THAT bad. Todd Bowles is 2-0 with BAKER MAYFIELD! He must not suck that bad. The list goes on and on. Put the ball in ZW's hands and if we get smoked we get smoked. At least they go down swinging without the teams hands tied behind their backs or their panties up their ass. All offseason long I kept reading about all the talent that Rodgers is going to have to play with. Well, why not ZW? If the kid can't cut the mustard then toss his ass on the practice squad and keep throwing QB's out there until we get it right. I don't CARE who! Who else is tired of the excuses? Take those damn watered down game plans, shove them up Bill Belichik's ass and play some damn football!
We did let it rip, bro. We put him in shotgun most of the game with 3+ wide and sometimes 5 wide. We ran 11 designed runs last week with runningbacks and 33 designed passes. It’s time to not let it rip. It’s time to play conservative football and mix in a lot of play action and bootlegs. Give Zach a one to two read on one side of the ball and tell him to throw it away or run after that. Run the ball a bunch behind the big thumpers on the right side.
75% of our plays were in 11 lmao. They had him back there like he was Rodgers and our OL got beat like a drum. It's time to run 12 or 21 and punch teams in the face behind AVT and Becton. Zach shouldn't throw the ball more than 22 or 25 times. He ain't that guy and we aren't that team.
Letting it rip against Bill B isn't a good idea. Zach hasn't shown he can throw the defense off balance
Naw...we didn't. Watch the game again. Outside a throw or two (one being the 65 yd. touchdown), the play calling was VERY conservative. You don't have to run the ball 95% of the time to be considered conservative. Get 4 WR sets and take 3 deep and 1 underneath! Open this bag of shit up and git er' done! I want play action, motions, multiple personnel groupings. You name it. Flooding the middle and letting Wilson "try" and thread the needle is an interception waiting to happen! OPEN it UP!
But it SHOULD be! Listen, we aren't winning with the Training Wheels on. We aren't winning by spoon feeding ZW high school plays. We either fold up the tents or let it rip. I vote for the later. At least it will be entertaining...
We let the o rip in the 4th quarter and look at the end result? When your qb can’t complete a 2 yard pass on a consistent basis that’s not the smartest of ideas
Even though we completely differ on our assessment of Zach, I actually agree with you for the most part. They've kept the handcuffs on him far too long, and in fact, I think that's part of his problem - he's so afraid of making mistakes he can't "let it rip". Now where I disagree is I don;t think they should be asking him to sling it 30+ times a game, especially with Breece in the backfield, but yeah they should be taking advantage of his mobility and athleticism a lot more than they have been. And if they lose, so what? They're losing already. And they're not going to win unless Zach learns how to carry the team at times, which means being able to make those high risk/high reward plays which no QB can do unless they try to make them enough times.
Against the Chiefs they let it rip. Against the Pats they run stubbornly on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, mixing in a few Zach rollout bombs on 1st to punish safeties in the box. I want to see 2 and 3 TE sets. I want to see Ruckert blocking like a maniac and rewarded with a few in the passing game. No one's likely more motivated than Ruckert. Dude's been going to Metlife tailgates since he was in diapers and probably hates the Pats like we do.
I saw the let it rip, ride or die with Zach succeeded request come in before the Cowboys game and said eh Idunno that’s a bad idea and not the way to win games. Then we do it, it fails, and there are continued requests for it. We literally went to five wide receivers multiple times and the Cowboys walked a linebacker up and ended all of those plays before they started because there was no quick read to the hot receiver.
It's possible to let it rip out of 3 TE sets with max protect. Allowing Dallas to tee off is more of Saleh's system inflexibility BS
I think what you think of as "Let it rip" and what some others - me - think are different. My definition is that they let him take some deep shots early on and on first down; they encourage him running the ball; they let him audible more; but at the same time they use more 12 lineups, and involve the TEs more. What I would NOT do much of - if at all - are empty backfields unless the game is out of hand and the other team knows they're going to have to sling it anyway.
He can’t read a defense at all. It’s evident by his deer in the head lights look when he faces a zone defense and has to find the hole. He should not be changing the play all too much.
it doesn't matter if we let him rip it or not because he's still going to run around like a chicken with his head cut off. the dude cannot play, let's get this in our heads. the question should be, why is this guy still on the team? easy answer, we have a terrible front office.
The answer is simple, Joe D and Saleh do not wanna admit they fucked up by drafting this kid, therefore they keep lying to themselves and the fans saying things like "we seen major improvement from this kid". Go from benching the kid because he stunk up the place last year, to starting him only to replace him with a Cfl quarterback in the middle of the game, to bringing in a 40 year old replacement only to make him the team starter again, I mean imagine your so bad you get benched for a 4th string Cfl quarterback only to be starting again next season. Denial is a bitch.
