I like this guys game a lot. I seen him in the Jets training camp and he is a true warrior. Check out his Videos especially the segment on the june jones show. He is what mangini wants in a football player. You guys talked about him already but I just hope this guy wears green next year

I can't remember where I read it, but from the videos I've seen of him I would say its accurate that hes a hitter and not a wrapper. Far too often the player he hits goes onto to make further yardage or needs a secondary tackle to finish the job.
He should be able to pick it up though , seems like a smart kid.

Can anyone tell me the name of the song you can hear at about 2:50 in the junes jones video? I know it's part of a NAS medley but it's also a BIG song.

One of the things that scares me a little about him is that almost every scouting site rated him near the bottom rungs of safeties going into the draft. Not that I'll take their opinions over someone like Mangini's, but I'm just not gonna get my hopes up for him having much of an impact. At best I can see him contributing on ST to a degree, but I hope I'm wrong with that.

I think most of that is due to his injury past and the fact that he played in Hawaii not at an SEC or Big 12 School. It's a small school that doesn't usually turn out top flight safties. More known for their OL and DL

From what I heard this guy got owned during one on one drills.

I mean, I'm not going to judge the guy by minicamp, but take that for what it's worth.

he got a timed speed of 4.7-4.8 plus it seems like he can?t tackle (every tackle on that highlight movies has been uncontrolled and lucky to even make the tackle). Plus he doesn?t have much bulk.

That means, he?s too slow to cover WRs and even TEs and he doesn?t have the bulk and tecnique to tackle RBs.

I would be very surprised if he would make the Team. If he would make the team he won?t be more than a special teamer.

the bulk? hes a 225 lb safety. almost built like a LB. if you know anything you can see his game speed is definitely better than a 4.7 plus. the play where he ran down the RB from the other side of the field? yeah thats speed.

ill admit some of his takcles were sloppy arm tackling. but there were alot of hits where he just puts hist chest into someone and wraps up completely textbook. his followthrough and drive on his tackles are the only problem, when he leaves his feet.

this guy has alot of intangibles and raw power and pure instinct that coach's drool over.

and as Jabba posted, that statement from Reggie Bush alone says ALOT about how competitive this guy is.

this is a no risk situation. we could end up with a new special teams headhunter, or even a new rotation player, or just a story to bring up about past training camp failures.

either way people should take interest. theres nothing else really to talk about.

where from do you have the 225? i remember him always around 205-210.

I agree his gamespeed looks faster, but if 40 isn?t important, y do prospects drop and climb 1-2 rounds if their 40 time is 2 tenth of a second faster, than projectet?

Don?t get me wrong, it would be great if he would turn out to be a productive special teamer, or maybe even depth at safety, but i can?t see this happening right now.

Some guys here seem to belive, we got the second comming of troy polamalu in FA.

I'm rooting for the guy to make the team, but we got to remember he is an undrafted FA for a reason.
He does have the raw attributes to be an impact player whether on special teams or for depth, however we can't expect him to be the next great safety.
We've already seen from recent posts that he struggled already on the second day of mini-camp. Although we can't base his performance on one day, it already shows that it may be a rocky road for him.

On another note, I watched a couple of clips of Justin Miller at Clemson before being drafted, and his tackling style were similar to Peters. A lot of power tackling using the shoulder or chest, but there may be a lack of form in terms of wrapping up. Hopefully our coaching staff can improve upon that.

You're right. This kid is a no risk situation and may be Mangini's personal reclamation project. First, they'll work on his tackling technique and he'll become a special teams ace. Then, after picking up a good part of the system and honing his skills he may become something at safety. Alotta' people have a good feeling about this kid... Can we all be wrong? Quite possibly. But if I'm gonna be wrong I'm glad I got Tangini to be wrong with. Let's see how this all plays out. I for one am excited as hell to see what this kid can do.
