In all fairness, when he heard the fireworks, he had to assume it was a home run. That's the stadium worker's fault.
Agreed, while in a perfect world he would have been running hard until he saw the umpire signal for a home run, the fireworks going off would have probably fooled just about anyone. The real Lastings Milledge fail has been his career so far. Not only does he have a .711 OPS since the Mets traded him, it's gone down each year (.731 to .696 to .636), and the guys he's been traded for (Ryan Church, Nyjer Morgan) have done considerably better than he did.
Still funny nonetheless Hahaha. Yep. Church was one of my favorite players with the Mets. Not sure why Jerry hated him so much.
Agreed. It's a damn shame Church got those 2 concussions two years ago. I thought he was well along on becoming a quality player for years on this team. I don't think he'll ever reach his potential because of it.
I went to a Pirates game last year. What I saw was almost exactly what Miledge did. Ryan Doumit thought he was so fast that he could make it to third on a fly ball to left that had a 50/50 chance of being caught. Rick Ankiel makes a great catch and Doumit (who was on first) doesnt realize until he is half way to third the ball is caught and then he slips and just looks even stupider when he gets doubled off at first
