Is this news to anyone else? If this is not new news please dump, it's just the first I've ever heard of this regarding Landry. I wasn't aware Landry had a non-franchise clause. Thanks again, Tanny. You're a gem. ESPN New York considers free agent SS LaRon Landry "highly unlikely" to re-sign with the Jets. A clause in Landry's one-year contract prevents the Jets from franchise tagging him, and he's already made it clear he won't accept a hometown discount. Beat writer Rich Cimini believes the Jets simply "won't be able to afford him." Landry is going to be seeking big money on a long-term deal at age 28. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4178/laron-landry
you are going to blame Tannenbaum for that? he signed a cheap 1 year deal and that was one of the reasons why. This was always going to be a 1 year deal. Let someone else overpay and watch him get hurt again.
I agree One good year should not cause us giving him a huge and long term contract. He was good but too much of a risk.
Yeah I don't blame Tanny for that at all. No way Landry would have signed it with franchise tag in there.
We won't have Cro, Revis AND Landry next year. 1 of the 3 is going to be gone. Hopefully we trade away Cro or Revis and re-sign Landry, though, IMO.
Yes I am going to blame Tannebaum. If he did not give that those ridiculous contracts to Sanchez or Holmes, we could afford Landry.
It would probably be more expensive to franchise him than to sign him to a long term deal and with out cap situation, I don't think it really matters. LaRon had a heck of a year here, but if you paid attention to the situation of the organization, you knew it would be no more than a one-year rental.
I really like Landry, but I have a feeling that once he's given a longer term contract he will get reinjured. Not that he wants to get injured but I just think he might. Too big of a risk to resign for big money if you ask me.
It definitely worked out for the Pats w/ McCourty. If Revis and Cro are both back next year that could be our best option..... unless you guys wanna see E Smith back there
It's very unlikely he'll resign with the Jets. You can't blame him for wanting to get paid. It was a good one year signing.
