Anyone else feel like there's a lack of buzz surrounding this year's draft, for some reason? In prior years, the day before the draft always seemed to be nonstop information coming in- guys moving up, guys moving down; certain guys teams really like, etc. This year, it doesn't seem like mocks have changed much at all in the past few months with risers and fallers, and no one seems to have a clear idea of where anyone outside after Bradford is going. It feels strange, in a way, how little buzz there is-it doesn't even feel like it's tomorrow. Maybe it's because of the new setup, with the draft on Thursday? Anyone agree with this feeling of lack of buzz?
It might be because of one round only this year on the 1st day. could be because there isn't a lot of bullshit being slung around from the top 5 teams. I don't know.
It just seems like by this time any other year, you pretty much know who the top 5 picks will be, and in what order. This year, after Bradford goes #1, I have no idea who will go 2/3 between Suh/McCoy, which tackle the Skins are looking at at #4 (Okung, Williams, or Buluga wouldn't surprise me), whether the Chiefs go Berry or OT at #5, etc. It's like it's February before any inside info gets out, and we're just relying on mock drafts based on where draft experts think guys should go, as opposed to who the teams themselves like. Seems strange to me, but maybe that will add more excitement to the draft since I'm not sure who's going where. Also, maybe it has to do with the draft being at night tomorrow; there's no "night before the morning of the draft" anymore that's almost like Christmas Eve.
i like it like this. i wish there was no reports from before the draft, so we had no idea if the Rams were going Clausen, Bradford, Suh, McCoy first overall. This could be the closest we get, since no reports of Bradford and the Rams talking contract have been surfaced, but we're all pretty sure it's Bradford
It's because they'll have all damn day to talk about it tomorrow. Man, tomorrow's going to be a long fucking day.
I didn't even mind 1-2/3-7 from last year. As long as it was two days and on the weekend. this is so pointless. They took Christmas and made it Hanukkah. No more big weekend. Now its shitty primetime, bed, shitty primetime, bed, and then the later rounds that barely get any coverage because the pundits are talking about rounds 1-3 for the entirety of rounds 5-7. now all of saturday will be a borefest. I really hate this move. Penning10 said it best - there is no more 'night before the draft.' that is a feeling i'll never get back.
guys its all about ratings...thats why they did this. they are trying out something the NBA has had great success in with their thursday drafts
there is a buildup to Christmas that is unmatched by any other holiday. IMO, there was a buildup to the draft weekend that is unmatched by any other draft weekend. I picked the closest, most recognizable holiday in contention with Xmas that is celebrated and enjoyed without being as cool... and it had to be a holiday longer than one day.
