If anything both Warner and the 9ers get something out of it. Warner gets to get the price he wants, and the 9ers get to jack up the price on a division rival. No way the Cards don't spend the money and bring him back.
I really hope he signs there, cause it would almost guarantee Stafford or Sanchez being there at 17 (barring a trade up). The Lions probably wouldn't take a QB at #1 at that point, knowing they could easily trade up ahead of us from their position at 18, so if nobody took a QB before the Jets, the Lions could let us take our pick of QB & then draft the one we don't.
I don't know why they even bothered having him fly in for that. They know he wants three years and at least two. Are you sure that's not 14 per for multiple years. That would be about right.
If Stafford falls to 8 the Jaguars shit themselves and take him. Sanchez would still fall to us though.
If Warner would sign there they could still draft a QB at #10 overal but they would probably be better off to use that pick to adress another need. I dont know why Warner would want to sign with the 49ers but if he does it would increase the chances of either Stafford or most likely Sanchez being there when the Jets pick. I dont know if the Jets will go QB in the first though.
NO WAY he wants 2-3 years! He is already OLD!!! And I am sure that he wants to live to see the twins that he just had, grow up. Sporting News just said 14 mill, and they expected the Cards to say 14.5 mill. Can't find a good link, tho': http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5i6u2wj9IMbtycIimtJdYo_tAnfMAD96M3S300
I could be wrong, but pennies have never been a priority for Warner. Kurt and Brenda pay to have houses built for people all the time, that cannot afford housing. I was listening to Kurt speak the other day on Sporting News. Kurt said, "at the end of the day, it is not about the Hall of Fame or the Super Bowl. It is about what you do to influence the lives of other people." Bottom line, however, Kurt is COMPETITIVE above all else, it is in his blood.
Cassie do you have a link that says they offered this much? The article you posted only says he met with team officials, which is what all other reports are saying as well.
He said on ESPN on Friday that he feels he has 3 good years left. I am sure he said that because that is what he wants.
Sorry, I just heard it on Sporting News Radio. But, I posted the only link that I could find on the web.
WOW...that shocks me. THREE more years? I would not risk the head trauma, especially with 7 kids that he adores.
