Wow.. Jenks clearly NOT happy with Nick Folk haha.. For those not watching, here's what he has said so far: - Said the pats are not a Super Bowl team right now because they aren't consistent. Admitted he is clearly biased as a Jets player. - Not impressed by the Steelers. Said you have to pressure Brady and the Steelers were unable to do so. - Some guy I've never seen before who is on this roundtable said the Jets aren't the most complete team because of their shaky performances the past few weeks and gave a few reasons. Jenkins said "Well I can't argue for the kicker".. The woman at the table said "So are you saying you miss Jay Feely?" and he said "No comment". Then he proceeded to defend the Jets in every other aspect.
Wow Jenkins' segment followed up immediately by Bart Scott on the phone. Big Jets day apparently. Bart: "We're the best team because we have the most ways to win".. "We haven't played our best, but we keep winning".. "We have an all-weather team, we can win anywhere at any time"
Folk had me thinking murderous thoughts yesterday. Did anyone actually think he would hit the game winner in OT kicking into the wind?
Seriously, was Folk the best the Jets could possibly do in the off-season? Or was he just the cheapest (aka crappiest) since we had to save money for all the other FAs?
One out of how many? lol I agree though, 1 bad game, that we won, and the lynch mob is out in full effect today. Everyone is entitled to a bad game.
Yeah I didn't love that he said that about Folk but other than that he was awesome. Dana: Who do you think the best team in the NFL is? Jenx: Well...
Not ready to lynch him just yet -- but the FG he missed that was basically an extra point. SHeeeet, my gramma could make that kick! Course she's 6'2" 230!
There clearly is no best team in the NFL this season.More so than any other year it seems like the saying"Any Given Sunday"applies this year more than ever. There is no one team that appears clearly dominant!
How many bad games did Shayne Graham have? Nate Kaeding? Neil Rackers? Doug Brien? Mike Vanderjagt? Here's the thing about kickers: I never fault a kicker for a miss, ever. But I do fault them for back-to-back misses. The most important trait a kicker can have is a short memory. If I could have my pick between a kicker who puts through 90% of his kicks and a kicker who never misses two in a row, I'll take the latter. You've got to be able to shake off the bad kicks. That's what makes Adam Vinatieri so special; I have a very difficult time remembering the guy miss two in a row (against the Chargers a couple of years ago, maybe?) Between a big leg and a short memory, take the dude with the short memory every time. I'm not on the "I can't believe we got Folk for a kicker!" bandwagon, but the guy needs to show some mental resilience. He didn't show that yesterday.
And at that rate his next "bad" game will happen during the playoffs. Playoffs. During the playoffs. During the playoffs. Better hope we don't need him...
