I got to thinking. What changes have occurred on our defense between last year and this year? There are three points that I have come up with: 1) Revis replacing Dyson. With Dyson injured, Revis is, according to public opinion, our best cornerback. He may be beaten deep sometimes but he is more physical than Dyson and has been helping the run defense a bit. Not a drastic change here. 2) Bryan Thomas and Victor Hobson switched sides. Should this really have that much of an impact? Well, yes and no, but it is having much more of an impact than it should. 3) Kimo Von Slowhoffen is gone. He was old, slow, and got tortured by opposing offensive linemen more than Vick tortured his dogs. Why, with him being the only loss of defense, does our defense look so horrible this year? We can all agree that Kenyon Coleman is better holding the point of attack in the run game, but apparently he just doesn't have the X factor that Blowoften had. Maybe it was the offensive linemen having pity on an old man, or maybe he knew a few tricks to teach those whipper-snappers a thing or two, but without Kimo Von Dullhoffen, the Jets' defense has gone down the toilet. So how do we get our defense up to snuff again? Simple: We need to get Kimo back, even if it means trading multiple first day draft picks.
 You might want to try and sound even more blatantly sarcastic in fear of the angry mob running you off the forum.
you?re joking, right? I really hope, you?re joking! Our just Defense looks too sweet-tempered. There?s not much moving before the snap, and our Blitzing-game is too uncreative and securely. No overloadblitzes, no Zone Blitzes, no stunts, no Corner or Safetyblites just ordinary 3-5 man Rush, and we just don?t have the personal to create pressure with that. I think we have to take more shots, call some risky plays. If we get burned and get a few big plays, i can live with that, but i hate to see bad Offenses push us down the Field on a regular basis. Where?s the Mangini, who suprises me on a regular Basis with a risky, but great playcall?
The OP is ill-thought out at best, a pitiable cry for help at worst. The fact is, our defense was not that good early last season, and Kimo Von Whiffoften was part of that. In order to determine what the change was that made us better down the stretch last year, we need to look at what changed. Obviously, the answer is Poteat. Until he is starting at corner opposite Revis, the position is the same, at best as it was with Dyson and Barrett last year. Therefore, one can only assume that the missing link is being ignored by our coaching staff. We don't need Kimotherapy, we need some Potent Poteat.
The defense is soft on the right side. All of the potential impact players (Ellis, Barton, Thomas, Rhodes, Revis) are on the left side and the other side is populated by the too slow, too light or just not suited for the 3-4 crowd (K. Coleman, Vilma, Hobson, E. Coleman, Barrett.) Not surprisingly the opposition is going to their left and attacking the right side of the defense the majority of the plays. Just switching Hobson and Thomas made a big difference in how that side of the defense plays. Now throw in removing KVO's nasty streak and replacing it with the calm, cool and collected Kenyon Coleman and there's no oomph at all to the right of D-Rob this season.
Yup...felt the need to point out the stupid. I like your's though "Potent Poteat," creative. Back to the bunker...
1) Revis didn't replace Dyson, he replaced Miller, who replaced Dyson. Barrett has proven to be the weak link, so if Dyson can get healthy, a starting combo of him and Revis willbe nice. 2) Hadn't noticed they switched sides. If that's true, SWITCH THEM BACK! They both had good seasons last year. 3) When Kimo started game 1, our line was pathetic. Coleman starting is the best thing we could do. That dude is huge out there, and is in on almost every rushing stop at the LOS. He makes Robertson better. Kimo is garbage at this point in his career, and has proven that last year, and every time he touches the field this year.
