The video on the Jets site says that "the Jets acquired defensive tackle Kim Von Oelhoffen" and the official roster just lists him as a DL.

Does this mean he will be a DE in the 3-4 and a DT when we go to 4-3?

Maybe it's too soon to tell what the coachs are thinking with training camp just starting. Kimo came from a 3-4, I wonder if he can change? Is it THAT much of a change? Seriously?

Most likely yes. You gotta think Ellis and Thomas are going to lock down the 4-3 ends. I actually don't think Kimo will play much if we go 4-3.

The way I understand it, is that we are going to be changing week in and week out in what D we play. It's all gonna be determined by who we are playing and what will work the best. I think at one time or another they'll all be playing DE or DT. IMO

Khalief Barnes, the left tackle of the Jaguars said that Kimo was the strongest player that he had gone up against last season!

Thomas has been marked down as an OLB. Don't know how much time he'll be seeing at end this year.

He will be an OLB in the 3-4, but what about our 4-3 schemes? Besides for Ellis, who else would play DE in the 4-3?

That's what I was wondering...maybe Dave Ball? If we go into a 4-3 with Ellis, D-Rob, Pope or Pouha, and KVO as our D-line, who is the pass rusher? That would almost have the be a run stuffing defensive line because none of those guys really seem to have the moves or speed to get alot of sacks. If you look at KVO's hit on Palmer, he got there with a bull rush and he uses power moves almost all the time. When Ellis had his big year in '04 you have to assume alot of it was due to the attention being paid to Abraham, allowing Ellis to be successful on the other side. Therefore, if we want to still threaten the pass in the 4-3, I can't see who we could use at DE other than Thomas.

Ellis' big year and big games came when Abe was riding the pine, nursing one of his many ailments.

Since you guys don't have all of the personel to run the 3-4 just yet you're going to see alot of changing between the two. It sounds like the same defense Belicheck used when he first came to NE and the same defense that the Dolphins run now. It's about having guys with versatility that can switch from one defense to the other.

He will not play OLB in the 4-3 I can guarantee you that so if he isn't playing as a down lineman, he just isn't playing.
