clearly a USC homer, he said Darnolds arm talent is better than Zach Wilson. To me there is no chance of that. We don’t know yet who will ultimately be a better QB, but Zach’s arm is better. https://youtube/H17MNx2HOfc
Keyshawn always was a big-mouthed idiot. If he thinks Darnold's arm talent is better than Zach Wilson, then he's even dumber (and blinder) than I thought.
Lol his homerism was on display here. He even thinks he’s gonna post 275 yds passing, like 70 yards rushing and 4 total TD’s. Apparantly Darnold turns into Lamar Jackson. And the arm talent isn’t close, Zach is clearly in a different league. I do feel though Sam is good on the run though
Listen to him a little bit in the morning show on ESPN radio and my god the love for him is annoying. Every time Wilson is brought up Key gets so defensive over Sam. It's ridiculous.
Keyshawn has been a Darnold homer for as long as I could remember. At one point he said on the radio that the Jets shouldn't have taken Lawrence if they had the #1 overall pick.
Keyshawn was a big Sanchez fan too iirc. These guys support the hell out of the universities that gave them their shot.
Lol we gotta get Keyshawn and Colin Cowherd in a room together to do a show about Sam Darnold, and then just watch all the other shows so we know they won’t be involved.
And paid them for their shot. I don't think Sam will be successful but it's not an outrageous take. A lot of media heads are still in love with Sam because they felt he was the next Aaron Rodgers. He does have a big arm after all, even if his fundamentals are absolutely garbage.
I heard Keshawn yesterday. Nice homer “give him another shot speech” I do like Sam don’t get me wrong, and wish him the best. But in no shape or form has the potential of Wilson to be elite. All the experts that believe Darnold has a very high ceiling point out things like physical strength, strong arm and mobility. Not one mind you, to the best of my recollection, even back when we were in draft mode for a QB, thought his fundamentals were off the chart good like Wilson. To the contrary, that was a weakness not a strength. So IMO, having a strong arm without superior fundamentals and accuracy will never quite get you to the elite level of the best. Is like having a powerful rifle with a a mediocre scope. There will be as many hits as misses. My two cents.
Also Sam hasn't been good at reading defenses and he abandons the pocket too quickly. He doesn't look comfortable in the pocket.
Well, Sam’s a lot like Keyshawn Highest 1st round pick since Keyshawn and turned out to be a big disappointment USC is the obvious commonality but more of a red herring
Darnolds arm honestly seems about average. Maybe slightly above average. But his mechanics are absolute shit, he has a below average release, his footwork is an inconsistent mess. Everything about him seems wonky and awkward in regards to him playing the positions And his decision making sometimes...people who say the Jets ruined him. absurd. Yea the Jets have had a lot of missteps in terms of building a team around him from 2018-2020 but he throws INT as if the DB or LB is the intended receiver.
I read that in 2018, many of the Jet veterans wanted Teddy Bridgewater to start over Sam b/c he was much better in training camp.
He was yes. He was just a better QB than Darnold overall. Darnold never had the trust and faith of the team...wasn't a leader
