As in interview. It was after 8 p.m. I only caught the last few seconds on 1050. Anything sweet to tell me? I couldn't find the transcript because I'm a dope. OK, I didn't try very hard.
Sorry. But what did he say as to all of it? I think it was an impromptu thing about some Jets charity thing...? All I heard was Curtis was a mentor, playing with Chrebet when I was rookie, he brought it everyday and taught me a lot even though he was on the other side of the ball, Clemens and Pennington, that's politics I can't touch. Turning into a voice of the team, something like that. Then I had to turn off the car because I had to pee.
Son of a b*tch! I know what I heard, thanks. And, am I the only person in the entire state of New York that did?! The interviewer even called him Mr. Rhodes (in a mancrush, loopy teenage love type of way). I was waiting for him to pull out an old Bugs Bunny classic and say, "Tell me more about my eyes" for Pete's Sake. He also said, "What do you have on in the background?" "The Hofstra channel." "Your friends are over playing X-box, admit it." I heard it, I tell you. Ffffffffffffffffff.
http://query-origin.andohs.net/8000A6/content-root3.andomedia.com/origin/mp3/stations/1367/080716_bt_w_KerryRhodes.mp3 ^There ya go. Your not crazy. And while Brandon Tierney does sound like he has the hots for Rhodes he is giving him well deserved props for being an outstanding player. I like Rhodes and he shows up for every game. Interesting, Brandon touches on Giants veterans complaining about Tom Coughlin's training camps last year. Probably eluding to Mangini's comments on speaking with an unnamed veteran player about not killing players at camp recently. Circumspect of course. Rhodes explains pretty much why he thinks Mangini's approach early was stern by saying that were a lot of new guys to mold and to send a message about how the new culture of the Jets should and will be. It sounds like Mangini now has his core guys buying into his system and that might earn the squad leaniency but he cautions that due to the poor record from last year that they wouldn't be surprised if he rides them a little due to that. And it also sounds like Mangini is more respected than feared in the locker room and does have a human side to him. Seems like Mangini might be a master motivator in his own right.
Out of the whole thread I think the biggest bit of news is Jet-O actually sounding optimistic! WOW! Now that's News! Back to Kev in the studio....
