That is what I have been saying. All these people are bitching about releasing Cotch before we sign Mason. Mason would just be a bonus. We have some young receivers that will step right in. I am not worried about our WR's, nor am I worried about the best GM in the NFL. Go Jets!
I really hope Kerley works out and if need be step into that starter role. Now seeing that we could've got Braylon back for slightly more than we paid plax, or could've got both for what we will likely give Mason and Plax if Mason signs. Even with the off field issues this seems like an easy choice.
We'll get a true idea of how much the coaching staff likes him after the Mason decision because it seems unlikely he comes here. If they go out and get another vet and just hand him the job Kerley isn't ready to step in. I think we could be in for a few weeks of freaking out about getting another wideout while the team lets Kerley run with the first team in the slot. I have to assume that I am more excited about him than a lot of other people because I have already seen him on the field with the Jets. It was only the 3rd day of camp but he easily could have been mistaken for a vet while he was out there. didn't make any noticeable mistakes and showed the types of traits you want from the slot guy.
Well it's time to see what the younger WRs have anyways, Patrick Turner, Logan Payne, Kerley one or two of them have to step up simple as that
Let's take a step back. Maybe he contributes this yera and maybe not but we have seen a million guys have great camps and not be able to play. I have high hopes for him but let's not let the expectations spiral out of control already.
I'll say again, I'm more concerned about our depth behind Plaxico than in who we've got in the slot. If Plaxico misses any time because of injury (which is fairly likely) we're going to need someone with experience to step in opposite of Holmes. As for who our slot receiver is, I think Kerley could be the guy. From all indications, he could be an impact player from day one.
I don't ever remember any press like this for Gholston. The last 2 years rex tried to talk him up but he didn't get praise like this.
I like Kerley's quicks, but his collegiate numbers aren't very impressive. He definitely looks the part, but I have really low expectations for him as a rookie. Ideally, you're not counting on him to step in and play great. -X-
There was no big hype for Gholston during his first camp. Mangini described him as "swimming" whatever that means. That is probably about as positive as things got for him.
I'm pretty hyped for all the fresh faces we have - but as xjets2002x stated - low expectations until he shows what he can really do against professional defenses.
Absolute lie. All reports from Gholston was that he was "swimming" during his first camp. He said it himself, "Swimming? More like drowning."
This example was tried earlier in the day. And it almost works. Clowney's speed was praised. But nobody ever said that he could beat anyone 1 on 1. And Clowney definitely never had anyone praise him for his ability to absorb the playbook quickly. Clowney had one thing - speed. And everyone waited for him to get it. He never did. Kerley is getting "it." So he's earning quick praise.
ha, but its not just LT who has been praising him. Media, coaches, players, and even our own fans (the respected minds) are all saying you wouldn't know he was a rookie. Its huge praise.
