So in recent days, I've seen Kareem Jackson's stock soar, to the point where some mocks have him going over even McCourty. I love McCourty as a prospect and would be quite happy if he were a Jet come later tonight. However, if the Jets like Jackson better than McCourty, he could be the pick as well if we're locked in on the CB position. Is anyone familiar with Jackson and how he stacks up against McCourty as a prospect? He's honestly slipped through the cracks for me so I'm not too familiar with his skillset and what he brings to the table.
McCourty and Jackson are very close in ability and probably will be drafted within a handful of picks of each other. Both players are very similar in size and 40 times, Devin slightly faster. McCourty is a better special team player and is more physical. Jackson is a very smart player and is excellent on press coverage off the line. Either player would be fine....McCourty's teams ability gives him an edge.
Plus, he went to Rutgers. Not that that would be a deciding factor but in a no lose situation you might as well bring in a fan favorite.
From what I read, McCourty seems like a better athlete and a better man-to-man corner. He reads like he's a more fluid cornerback, and as a guy who will start off as a slot CB, I want a quicker guy like DMC.
That's the most important aspect. McCourty is athletic and aggressive enough to get in the faces of every WR he lines up against. That's what makes him so attractive despite the Cromartie trade.
