I missed most of the game, but was Miller even in the game? He isn't listed as recording any stat on nfl.com

did anyone see that 3rd and (about) 6 play where Barrett broke up the slant pass? i couldn't believe my eyes. it may have been the first time i've seen him play up on a WR and break up a pass.

    cheers

Well then you must be blind, eddawg, because he has excellent ball skills. Barrett's problem is staying with receivers down the field, and recognizing routes. He gets burned on quick cuts, but he's a great defender when the receiver is catching the ball and he maintains with the receiver.

Great to see Barrett is healing up and that hes not in the dog house like people have rumored he has.

i guess i am blind because i always saw him make plays downfield and rarely get burned deep; while anything 15 yards and less, he couldn't defend.

    cheers

Barrett definitely gives up a lot of cushion when he's in man-to-man. Probably because he's worried about his chances to catch up to the faster guys if they get behind him.

As you noted he is a good deep defender and a solid tackler (very few passes defensed) on short routes.

In other words he does just about everything Justin Miller cannot.

I believe he has been hurt with a largely undisclosed injury for most of the season. You see references to a sore or bad hip here and there but nothing the Jets want to talk about.

The doghouse stuff I have no clue about but putting Miller into the game instead of Barrett if Barrett was healthy would get Mangini in my doghouse.

    The missed field goal return......

I'm sure most of you saw the play where Miller was brought down by Sage Rosenfoiled....

But can someone make sense out of this:

    :)03) K.Brown 59 yard field goal is No Good, Center-B.Pittman, Holder-C.Stanley. J.Miller at NYJ -5 to NYJ 19 for 24 yards (S.Rosenfels).

How is Rosenfoiled (the backup QB) in on the tackle if he isn't the holder on the field goal unit?

while we're on the topic of Miller...

if teams routinely avoid Miller on kickoffs, is there some sort of counter we can do where Miller runs up (once he sees the ball will be short) and whoever fields it can just pitch it back to him?

will this screw up the blocking, the rhythm of the return, or be a risk? is it worth it to try, or just take decent field position a short kickoff?

    cheers

He was the holder. It was his first hold of the season, and whoever did that assumed that Stanley still was.

What's wrong with Leon Washington taking it himself? It would be a risk to attempt a pitch, and Leon had a KR TD himself in the preseason.........

well i was talking about someone like Baker getting it. if Miller sees the kick is short, he can run up behind Baker and get the ball, go from there.

    cheers

BJ Sams looks like he broke his ankle.

I feel bad for him, but does this put Miller in the Pro Bowl?
