Hey Folks, Just wanted your thoughts on this idea , so I will just throw it out here. I notice Grady Jackson is still looking for a home. Now I know very well he is not an every down guy and we can not sign everyone, but he would be a hell of a back up and fill in player. With him in the fold to spell Jenkins six or seven times a game you would have to believe between the two them they would wear down that offensive line by the mid third quarter. Hell, he would not even have to rush just tie up two or three guys and let the LB's lose at the QB. Don't know how much he's looking for and I know he does not have a lot left in the tank but this seems like the perfect role for him this late in his career. I was thinking that this would be a win/win for both the Jets and Jackson if his asking price was reasonable, what do you think ?
From Rotoworld. Grady Jackson-DL- Falcons Mar. 3 - 2:48 pm et The Lions are expected to sign free agent DT Grady Jackson to a multi-year deal if he passes a physical Tuesday. The physical is key for Jackson, who is 36 and has battled knee woes for years. He's nearly fallen out of the league over the last two seasons and is only a two-down player, but the Lions are viewing Jackson as a starter. Source: NFL.com
We need a backup for Jenkins, the whole thing will fall apart if he goes down. This is a top priority so a solid veterna works for me.
For something around the veteran minimum that would be a nice fit.. Signing him to a multi-year deal seems like a mistake...
I don't know. There are only 350 people in the city. Are we sure any of them make for a solid NT? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VeternĂ¡_Poruba
Not at all, and I'd imagine he'd have accepted a backup role at 36. I'm not sure we have much cash left to make the position a priority before the draft. For a part time sub, I'm hoping we can get enough use out of Pouha (unlikely) or draft a prospect a la Terrance Taylor in the mid to late rounds.
