She just came in to pickup 2 AL Champs tees since they ran out at the team store. She gave me an update on George and said they fly out tomorrow and have to bring 4 nurses with him since he's in terrible shape, they had to wake him up to let him know NYY won last night. She told me Hal told her "George is coming up here no matter what and if he passes, he passes, but he has to go up there." She gives all credit to Hal and Cashman on the team this year and obviously hopes they win #27.
much as I hate the guy for his meddling in the 80s, I'm rooting for him to hang in there long enough to see one more Championship. Say what you want, I only wish a guy like him owned the Jets while I was growing up.
yeah i'm a met fan, but there's no denying steinbrenner's passion. he would do anything it took to win.
Nothing happened to him. Hal was more involved in the day to day building of the new stadium which is why Hank was holding up the front but it was always Hal who was the top guy. For all I know Hank is back running the family horse business where he excels.
I hope he sees #27. He must be in terrible shape if he can't even watch the games and needs to be told they won.
Yeah I'd rather have an owner who is content with just being in the league. Fuck winning, it's overrated!
I hope they win it and I hope Arod hits the walk off winning HR in the 9th inning of the deciding game and I hope Burnette gets George with a whipped cream pie and I hope that doesn't kill him in the process...I hope all of that.
Typical yankees mentality. To be honest, yea your right. Id rather lose and mantain some dignity than win like the yankees do. Yankees fans are like a kid who owns a corvette who wins in a street race because everyone else is driving nissan pathfinders, and then they flaunt it.
yea i meant to do a little posting before the yankees got in the world series so i could kind of let my hate out in piecemeal but i never got around to it, now after a shitty day filled with hearing "yankees baby!" all day at work, im ready to let loose.
If there are no rules against corvettes, why not use one? The Yankees just use the rules to their full advantage. By the way, the mets have the second highest payroll in the MLB.
yes, i mentioned in another thread, it doenst matter who the 2nd highest team is, whether it be the cubs, mets, sox, etc. the yankees are always light years away from any of the other teams. And......not everyone can afford a vet. Im sorry this is a bit offtopic from the thread so ill stop posting in this one but I just wanted to rebuttle.
The last 30 years of baseball wouldn't have been nearly as interesting without him. I could never say I liked him, but baseball would be awesome if every owner were as committed to his team as George.
That's what she said "I don't even know why I'm buying these since I get them for free but I just like to tuck one away to save one and I have to buy one for Michael(grandson?) so he has one for the plane ride."
