I figured I'd make one with a bit of a twist. I took the walterfootball mock and when it came to the Jets, I made a selection based on who was still available, this way I would be able to justify players I took being available

This is my first time doing a mock on here so lets see how it goes

    Rd 1 Dont'a Hightower, Alabama

I know this is a very common pick so nothing new here, my personal reasoning is that he can play multiple positions, I don't think he necessarily has to play inside or outside, I think he's a player that Rex can line up in different spots to keep defenses guessing. He could also be used in interesting pass rushing formation (think what the Giants do with JPP, Tuck, Osi, and Kiwanuka)

    Rd 2 Vinny Curry, Marshall

I did not expect him to be available when I made the Hightower pick, but I can't pass up on him here. With Pace and Thomas running out of time, I can live with grabbing two LBers early. And even with Maybin in the fold, A team can never have too many passrushers

    Rd3 Brandon Washington, Miami

After using the first two picks on linebackers, I had to take the top Offensive lineman left. With the uncertainty on the line, another body to compete is worth the third round selection. If he isn't ready to start now he can always be prepped to replace Moore or Slauson if/when the time comes.

    Rd 4 Jared Crick, Nebraska

I was going to go receiver here but if I picked Streeter then this mock wouldn't have anything different to it so I went defensive line. Crick was projected to go late first by many people before this season started. He was also talked about by some people last year when we had the need for defensive line. For a 4th round pick I'd be willing to see what he can do at the next level. It also gives us more flexibility with Devito after the season.

Rd 5 Brandon Hardin Oregon State

I never looked into him until I saw him brought up on this board, and the more I look into him, the more I want him, He is the reason I passed up on Safety in rounds 3 and 4. He could be the young FS that we haven't had since we traded Rhodes.

I know I completely ignored WR but I think this does a good job of adding youth and talent to our defense, because as long as Rex is our coach, the Defense will be what carries us.

critiquing is more than welcomed, I won't be offended by people not agreeing with me

edit - here is the walter football mock if you want to see who else was available when i made my picks http://walterfootball.com/draft2012.php

Theres nothing wrong with most of the picks (might be able to get Washington a round later)

But most of these guys are consistently in most of the mocks here

Then again lotta the picks in the first 2 rounds are consistently gonna be the same handful of guys anyway

My favorite pick is easily Washington though, who I see as our future stud of a guard replacing Moore when hes done as a Jet after this season. (id ideally love to get him in the 4th, but who knows if hed still be there, id rather trade up in the 4th and grab him then give up a 3rd tho)

Also Jared Crick is 279 pounds, he cant play DE for us hes way way too small

He would be an OLB, and I dont know anything about how well he can play standing up.

Im kind of bewildered at how all these scouting reports on him say they see him as a 3-4 DE. The guy would get beat like a ragdoll, hed easily be the smallest guy on our Dline by a huge margin too.

I like it and if you swap out Crick for Streeter I'll like it even more!

this is my favorite realistic mock so far. If this happens I'll have a 6 foot erection with a cheese burger on the end of it.

Yeah I was a bit hesitant in posting because I had seen a lot of the names on here before

I agree that I probably could have dropped back a bit for Washington, but I wasn't going to mock any trades and I didn't want to risk missing out on him in the 4th

Crick is someone who interests me a lot, watching him, he penetrates well even working inside, and he has one hell of a motor, he never gives up on a play, even if he isn't big enough to play DE for us on 1st or 2nd down, he has an ability to cause trouble no matter where he is lined up.

Even if he can only play OLB, I wouldn't be opposed to taking him, we could very well lose Pace, Thomas, and Scott all next year, so picking up 2 OLBs and a guy who can play anywhere in this draft would be okay with me, we would just need to hold we strike gold on one of our low cost WRs.

From what I've seen I think he can play against the run and the pass, but I've never seen him try to drop into coverage, but in the mid rounds a guy who can rush the passer and do anything else is worth it to me

just something to watch for people who aren't familiar
