I know this has probably been posted, but what are the chances of us getting McCown? he's young as hell and has the potential to be amazing. In the 2 games he started after Warner got hurt, he threw for 300+ yards and 2-3 TDs consecutively. And thats with virtually no recievers (Fitgerald is really their only productive stud). Throw a running threat into that offense and he could be amazing. What's the consensus?

i like him...but virtually no recievers???!?!?! Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald make up the best WR starting combo in the league IMO, not to mention a former first round WR, Bryant Johnson in the slot

WHY? WHY? WHY?? If we can't get the QB of our future via FA then why bother? Let's draft OUR GUY if the QB spot is such a big deal? There is a list of quality back-ups and if that is what we are looking at, OK. There isn't anyone on the market who should lead us in the future.

Highly disagree. I'm telling you McCown has amazing ability as a QB for someone as young as he is. He could really develop. As far as the reciever situation, yes they have a good core, but they completely lack a running game. Think about this. McCown threw for 300+ yards and 2-3 tds in 2 consecutive games with no running game. This means the D is playing against the pass, and he STILL managed to put up the numbers. I think he's a great candidate and would fit well in our system, especially with a veteran back behind him and a solid O-Line. The only problem is our FO doesn't even know who this guy is because they're all over Cutlers *&(%*&$!!!!

McCown is very intriguing, but I don't know if his price tag will fit in the Jets range. If you can get him for a reasonable 3 year deal I'd sign him and then draft a Croyle or Omar Jacobs in the third round to groom as the future/insurance if McCown sucks.

I gotta say, you guys are driving me nuts with these awful QBs - A. Brooks, McCown, Garcia.

I've got an idea...Let's sign Aaron Garcia of the New York Dragons. He's pretty good. He can be our stop gap! Yeah!

I have to agree with you. This is the draft where we should draft our franchise QB. There are too many questions with the guys on the market now. Get a QB that will potentially be with us for 10 yrs and build a team around him.

you've lost all credibility on this post by saying Arizona virtually has no receivers. Most teams would be fortunate enough to have 1 premier WR let alone 2.

    Larry Fitzgerald 103rec 1409yds 10tds
    Anquan Bolding 102rec 1402yds 7tds

yeah, both these guys really suckass...and then you say Josh McCown has potential to be amazing, lmao, youre an amazing talent evaluator

In crazylion's defense, Boldin was out for a few games. They may have been the McCown starts, in fact.

i agree did anyone see some of the throws Jeff Garcia made on thanksgiving, hes got nothing left, he had TO in SF but i dont believe he is the answer nor of McCown when he had such a good recieving staff and the older Warner made it over him, and Brooks i kinda like but he makes worse decisions than vinny

This quote is exactly the purpose of this thread. Look at the facts. If we keep our number 4 position, we're looking at Cutler. Were even talking about trading to the #2 spot to pick up Cutler. You're telling me that the 2 top QBs in the draft are going to be open and we're taking Cutler?????? If we dont trade up, we're looking at Cutler. Now I ask you. Who's better... Cutler or McCown? You want a franchise QB and I can assure you you're NOT going to find that with Cutler. We need to look for other options, and honestly, McCowns age intrigues me and holds my attention. Let's be honest, he's not the best QB out there, but theres a lot of time where we can DEVELOP him. OR we could trade for Collins and "band-aid the problem for a few year until he retires 2 years later and we're back in the same situation. I'm not saying we should draft Collins, I'm merely giving extremes. He's better than Cutler, WITH NFL experience, and has a lot of time to develop, unlike MANY of the FA out there. And sitting 4 in the draft is not going to get up a franchise QB in Cutler.... Do you understand?

I totally agree we need a franchise QB. But all these threads that get posted... Collins during the regular season, Jeff Garcia... come on... these people are in a race to see which comes first... a win or their 401 K. And Aaron Brooks is good, but you'll never win a championship with Aaron Brooks, which is why NO is in the position they are in now. McCown has talent and he's young.

Great plan for the drafting QB in the 3rd, the only thing is I am not totally sold on McCown, I would rather have a vet with a little more proven gameplay like Kitna. I know there is not alot of guys like that out there at the moment but it would be nice, McCown is my second choice and Brooks is 3rd

CrazyLion I have been proposing McCown for about since our season ended (officially at least... :rofl2: ).

I wanted to give Penny another year to heal and see if he could come back at 100% and I thought McCown would be the perfect cheap veteran because he still has some potential to get better and he is a pretty good physical talent he just hasn't put it all together yet.

It looks like we might lose Penny but I still think we should think about getting McCown to come in because at the very least, he has proven to be a good backup who can come in and win you games and if we do end up drafting a QB this year, McCown can play for a year or two while the rookie gets ready and our team gets ready for him.

Love your choice CrazyLion, it doesn't sound so crazy to me

Love the way you think... I actually think I saw your post about him a while back. I agree... Plus, he's NOT a tremendous hit to our cap, like other FAs would be... We could get him cheap!
