    McCown vs. Manuel... Nice

I was kind of looking forward to seeing the Jets play against Sanchez, but honestly I think he would be a better option.

If they opt for just McCown, they're showing some faith in Manuel

You know I dont want to kick up a hornets nest here, but after last season with the Eagles and with a guy like Chan Gailey as OC (who takes mediocre QB's and makes them productive) maybe bringing Sanchez back is a viable option. I mean if the other choices are Jake Locker and Matt Moore, Sanchez doesnt look so bad. Shudder the thought.

This is a good move for the Bills,. I wish we could have done it. But overall I'd take Hoyer, Moore or Shaun Hill over McCown

career backup. 12 years, 6 teams, another 2 teams he failed to make out of TC, 17-32 as a starter.

    Silly question.

I thought free agency didn't open until March 10.

Is he eligible to sign now because he was released?

I was really hoping to see Sanchez land there. I did see a tweet from Ian Rapoport how "McCown has other visits scheduled. He'll take at least one more, with time on his side" Bills should be the best spot for him but I doubt a deal gets done today.

Josh McCown is reaping the benefit of getting released early. He should have a new home way before free agency starts on March 10.

I think Mallet under the right system might have a higher potential than most all the available QBs in free agency.

Basically Belichick gave him to Houston for nothing last year. But maybe a favor to O'Brien who likes Mallette.

I dont know how it could be thought Mallet is a solution given the minimal game tape on him.

You might be right, but here is my take on that. When you have a lot of tape on a player, you pretty much know what you are getting, but you also know the ceiling. What you see is what you get, no upside.
I think with Mallet the potential is TBD because of his very limited play time. Is like getting a draft choice. It could be a bust, or it could explode into a winner. He is tall, strong arm QB and smart. Probably too inclined to take chances but that could be fixed. Just a thought.

I think there's enough tape. He has college tape. Some NFL tape. He's a backup type.

He's had less of a chance to prove he's bad than Geno has.

What? You want this clown? This is a great move for us. Rex is clueless on how to make a QB better.

To have McCowan and EJ as the two duking it out for starter means the Bills have taken a big step backward in the QB department.

Going into free agency last year McClown was the best available FA Qb after outplaying Jay Cutler in Chicago. Btw he didn't sign with the Bills today.
