Eh.....neutral about this. tells me that clowney and that other jaguar dude aren't sniffing green and white.
The Jaguar dude never was and assuming Clowney gets severely overpaid ($15-20 mil per), I'm glad he isn't in green in white.
He's not an elite edge rusher by any means, but he sets the edge well and his sack numbers have gone up every year. Letting him walk would've opened up another hole for a team that already has many.
He's a good edge setter and run defender. Strong at the point of attack and tough to move. Not much of a pass rusher but I'm glad we brought him back. He reminds me a lot of Calvin Pace, who was a good player for a long time here.
Doesnt eliminate the need for an edge rusher. Id assume Clowney is out but still would like to bring in a vet like Curry or Griffen.
Amusing. We just signs a guy that got more sacks than Clowney for probably cheaper. In fact he has consistently gotten better every year. He doesn't take plays off. I think this is a great signing. Way happier than I would of been with Clowney having 3 good games a year.
If we could get Clowney at $15 million, that's a steal. Not sure that would be considered "overpaying". I would be 100% on board at that number
I'm good with it - I was always in the frame of mind of keeping Jenkins rather than pay some over priced money grabber that the Jets would eventually rue the day for signing him. Not saying Clowney is like this but his stats don't seem to match his price tag.
I don't necessarily think signing Jenkins has taken the Jets out of the running for a guy like Clowney. I wouldn't take this move as the end of the Clowney sweepstakes
For a one year deal sure. If you're paying him that much in year one of a multi-year deal then by year three, there needs to be an out.
I think it is. Clowney isn't worth 10 million a year and Douglas just showed he can get better production for cheaper.
I assume an Edge prospect will under consideration in rounds 2-4. Someone like Alton Robinson, Curtis Weaver, Kenny Willekes, Khalid Kareem etc....
He will also show up in more than 3 games. Clowney doesn't deserve that money. Again Aaron Donald is double teams on almost every play. Mack as well. Ngakoue is a lot. None of them were as bad as Clowney last year. They all get sacks. All the good pass rushers in history are double teamed, yet they produced as well. You think LT wasn't double teamed? Strahan? Jared Allen? All were double teamed in their prime and still produced... Clowney isn't worth the money and never will be.
